We are looking for a strategic, technically credible sales professional who can help customers turn their building priorities into smarter, more sustainable solutions.
As a Senior Solutions Sales Representative, Smart Buildings, you will engage building owners, developers, consultants, and engineering firms early in the project lifecycle. You will help influence design decisions, technical requirements, and specifications before projects reach the procurement stage.
This role is ideal for someone who understands building technologies and knows how to translate complex solutions into clear business outcomes, including improved energy efficiency, operational performance, resilience, occupant experience, and asset value.
What will you do?
- Engage building owners, developers, engineering consultants, and design firms during the concept, budgeting, and design stages of projects.
- Influence technical requirements, system architecture, specifications, and design decisions.
- Develop and manage a pipeline of opportunities where smart building solutions can be positioned before procurement.
- Manage and grow key customer accounts across commercial real estate, retail, hospitality, and mixed-use developments.
- Build trusted relationships with owners, operators, facility teams, sustainability leaders, executives, and consulting engineers.
- Deliver customer presentations, workshops, webinars, lunch-and-learns, and industry events.
- Create tailored business and technical presentations for sectors such as real estate, retail, hospitality, data centres, healthcare, and transportation.
- Translate building automation, power management, energy management, software, and service capabilities into clear customer benefits.
- Develop regional sales strategies in partnership with regional teams, external business partners, and other business units.
- Bring together sales, technical, software, services, and solution specialists to address complex customer requirements.
- Maintain accurate forecasts and share customer, market, and competitive insights.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Systems, Energy Management, Automation, or a related technical field.
- 7+ years of experience in building automation, energy management, electrical systems, power management, smart buildings, or a related industry.
- Experience in consultative sales, specification sales, engineering consulting, business development, or strategic account management.
- Experience serving commercial real estate, retail, hospitality, mixed-use, or institutional customers.
- Established relationships with building owners, developers, consultants, engineering firms, or facility-management professionals.
- Strong commercial and technical knowledge of building automation systems, HVAC controls, energy management systems, power monitoring, electrical distribution, connected devices, Internet of Things technologies, edge control, and software.
- Working knowledge of project development, design, budgeting, construction, procurement, tendering, engineering specifications, and request-for-proposal processes.
- Ability to engage executive, technical, and operational stakeholders.
- Strong presentation, relationship-management, account-planning, forecasting, and customer relationship management skills.
- Ability to travel approximately 50% across Eastern Canada (Quebec, Ottawa, Atlantic provinces) and, at times, elsewhere in Canada or the United States.
- Functional knowledge of English and French is required. Must be able to work with stakeholders located in Quebec, other Canadian provinces and internationally.
