Original job description

Requisition ID: 275627

Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture.

The Business Analyst Specialist is primarily responsible for managing the delivery and support of medium-to-complex regulatory AML & Compliance technology solutions for the AML Risk PMO to meet the business and operational needs. As such, the BA Specialist is accountable for defining business requirements and process changes to ensure the least impact to the customer while reducing the Bank's regulatory risk (e.g., compliance to various Anti-Money Laundering-related regulations).

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

Independently resolve complex, multi-faceted problems to meet the business needs related to the project, by applying industry, technology, and regulatory knowledge to the design of methodologies, models, and/or systems solutions. This may involve rapid prototyping, with requirements and solutions developed on an iterative basis that provides interim deliverables until a final production solution is available. This includes conducting research and analysis, accurately and clearly defining user requirements/stories and processes, and consulting with the users or their representatives.
Lead, from a Business Analysis perspective, multiple small projects and/or specific sections of large projects to implement solutions to business problems. Support the Project Manager in developing detailed project plans, monitoring progress against planned objectives, and securing consensus and co-operation from users and senior management.
Plan/coordinate the development and implementation of requirements (analysis, design, development, testing, roll-out). Provide guidance for the implementation of requirements as required and align with project team if needed.
Confirm the validity and accuracy of requirements and follow up with the stakeholders, as required.
Participate in the systems implementation process by defining business requirements and processes, and/or reviewing test strategies and test cases, documenting user procedures and workflows, developing conversion and implementation strategies and plans, providing user documentation, providing user training, transitioning to steady state and providing post-implementation support.
Ensure the timely and accurate completion of projects through participation in the production of implementation strategies and presentation of proposed changes.
Contribute to an environment of effective and efficient operations, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet assigned obligations with respect to operational risk & Business Sustainment accountabilities, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

University degree and 5 – 7 years business analysis experience, preferably in financial services with experience in Risk, AML or Compliance.
Experience in 'Payment Screening' initiatives considered an asset.
Experience operating under multiple project delivery frameworks (Waterfall, Agile, Iterative).
Process improvement experience with an understanding of workflow analysis and design.
Demonstrated ability to effectively engage with business and IT resources.
Has a comprehensive understanding of relevant banking processes, current and anticipated regulatory requirements (e.g., AML-related regulations)
Possesses intermediate to advanced level skills in the use mapping & flow chart software tool (e.g., MS Visio), JIRA, and Confluence.
Possesses creativity, is results oriented, and demonstrates excellent analytical and communication (verbal/written/presentation) skills and ability to apply these skills to independently resolve complex business problems.
Demonstrates strong interpersonal and leadership skills along with negotiation skills to build consensus and obtain cooperation from the team, end users, senior management, and other stakeholders.
Demonstrates time management and organization skills in order to effectively manage work on multiple projects/initiatives.
Has a solid understanding and working experience of systems development techniques (e.g., Waterfall & hybrid and/or full Agile), including requirements/user story specification and testing methodologies.
Experience leading requirements gathering sessions with business stakeholders, documenting detailed requirements, and conducting requirements review sessions with both business and technology partners.

What's in it for you?

Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.
The opportunity to join a forward-thinking organization where you are surrounded by a collaborative team of innovative thinkers.
A competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits plan.
An organization committed to making a difference in our communities - for you and our customers.
You can expect to be recognized and rewarded for high-performance; you will be supported by leadership through meaningful development conversations that enable faster advancement and internal training to support your growth and development.
