Contributes to the overall success of the Global Sanctions & Screening (GSS) program risk function by ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the functions and the strategies and objectives of the GSS team. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

Supporting with the execution of various activities that are critical to the sustainment of Scotiabank’s sanctions program risk function, including:
- assessing and advising on sanctions risks of new product/service initiatives;
- assessing and advising on sanctions risks of third party engagements and their associated contractual arrangements;
- tracking and identifying impact of sanctions-relevant regulatory changes;
- updating GSS-specific program risk documentation;
- maintaining a recordkeeping system for completed risk assessments; and
- distributing to applicable stakeholders a tracker of completed, pending and on hold new product/service initiatives.
Execute ad hoc assignments in support of the GSS Program Governance and Training functions, as instructed by the Director, Global Sanctions , including
- maintaining GSS document and training trackers;
- coordinating timely communications of certain GSS program matters; and
- maintaining and enhancing sanctions communication channels, including the GSS SharePoint site.
Build strong partnerships with key internal stakeholders and work collaboratively across functional teams.
Foster a high-performance, inclusive work environment that reinforces both individual accountability and strong inter-team cooperation.
Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We’d love to work with you if you have:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline with a minimum of two years of sanctions compliance program experience, or other related experience in a financial institution setting.
Detail-oriented with strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient organization, planning, time management and reporting skills.
Results oriented and highly motivated.
Working knowledge of Canadian and U.S. AML/ATF and economic sanctions laws, regulatory standards and industry best practices.
Skilled proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other related productivity tools.
Working knowledge of financial services sector business, products, operations and systems.
AML/ATF/sanctions-related professional designation (e.g. CAMS, CGSS, CSS) is an asset.
