Purpose

Drive portfolio profitability and revenue integrity by identifying and executing opportunities to optimize pricing, spread, funds transfer pricing (FTP), fee generation and relationship economics, while detecting revenue leakage and supporting proactive revenue optimization strategies.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Revenue Optimization, the Manager supports Profitability Optimization and Loan Portfolio Management within Canadian Commercial Banking through analysis of loan and relationship economics, revenue recognition methodologies, systems, front-line practices and NII/NIR generation.

The role combines analytics, commercial judgment and strategic problem solving to identify material revenue opportunities, understand the behaviours and process gaps driving outcomes, and translate findings into practical recommendations, executive-ready communications and front-line actions. The Manager works through influence across business, pricing, treasury, product, credit, analytics and technology partners to improve pricing discipline, adoption and measurable business results.

Key Accountabilities:

Portfolio Monitoring & Revenue Optimization

Monitor and analyze portfolio KPIs, including NII, NIR, fees, FTP, spread, pricing realization, relationship profitability and risk-adjusted returns
Identify, quantify and investigate revenue leakage drivers, including pricing gaps, booking inconsistencies, behavioural patterns and data or system issues
Apply strategic and commercial judgment to prioritize opportunities based on financial impact, client value, risk appetite and operational practicality
Support the development and enhancement of customer segment, product and relationship-level pricing strategies to optimize risk-adjusted returns and client profitability
Use peer benchmarking and portfolio analysis to identify potentially mispriced deals, renewals and outliers, and develop practical pricing considerations for business partners

Analytics, Insights & Executive Communication

Develop and maintain automated dashboards and KPI reporting to monitor portfolio performance and pricing effectiveness
Integrate and analyze data from multiple systems, including pricing platforms, loan systems, nCino and the data lake
Leverage tools such as Python, SQL and Power BI to improve data processing, analysis and reporting efficiency
Perform trend, scenario, portfolio, segment and deal-level analysis to diagnose performance drivers and support pricing and portfolio management decisions
Synthesize complex analysis into clear executive narratives, strategic implications and prioritized recommendations for senior management and non-technical audiences
Prepare concise, decision-oriented presentations, business cases and briefing materials that communicate the issue, financial impact, recommended action and implementation considerations

Behaviour Change & Business Adoption

Develop an understanding of Relationship Manager behaviours, pricing decision points and deal execution practices to identify where coaching, guidance, playbooks or process changes can improve outcomes.
Translate analytical findings into practical tools and discussion materials that support more consistent and confident pricing decisions by front-line teams
Partner with business leaders and front-line teams to investigate pricing exceptions, understand root causes, recover value where appropriate and reduce recurring issues
Support adoption through training, coaching, presentations, office hours and practical playbooks, and monitor whether interventions are changing behaviours and improving financial outcomes
Design test-and-learn approaches to assess pricing tactics, coaching interventions and product or process enhancements, with a focus on measurable revenue, adoption and client impact

Stakeholder Collaboration

Collaborate with Relationship Managers, District and Regional leadership, Analytics, Treasury, Product, Credit Solutions, Technology, Client Measurement and Salesforce/nCino teams to advance pricing and revenue initiatives
Provide analytical and strategic support for priority initiatives, business cases and ad-hoc requests
Influence stakeholders through evidence-based recommendations, constructive challenge, facilitation and clear communication of commercial trade-offs
Build trusted relationships across technical and business teams and support alignment on priorities, decisions, actions and accountabilities

Dimensions

The Business Bank is a large contributor to Canadian Banking, generating NIAT of $600MM+ and comprising numerous sub-business lines supported by more than 1,000 FTE across Canada
The Manager receives direction from the Senior Manager, Revenue Optimization and works independently to identify, develop and implement strategies and achieve results
A high degree of judgment is required to assess ambiguous business issues, balance competing commercial considerations, prioritize initiatives and create clear direction for cross-functional work

Education / Experience / Other Information

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Business, Finance, Economics, Commerce or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
MBA, relevant master's degree or professional designation would be considered an asset

Experience

Minimum of 2+ years of experience in commercial banking, pricing, profitability management, strategy, finance, analytics, product management or a related business partner role preferred
Experience in business banking operations would be an asset
Familiarity with internal systems such as STO, SDR, OLL and Intralink is an asset
Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to source, manipulate and interpret data, diagnose business issues and make informed recommendations. Experience building statistical models is an asset
Proficiency in SQL, Python and business intelligence tools such as Power BI is preferred
Experience translating analytical findings into strategic recommendations, executive communications or business-facing decision support
Experience influencing front-line teams, business partners or senior stakeholders through insight, coaching, presentations and practical recommendations is preferred

Skills

Strategic thinking and commercial judgment, with the ability to connect analysis to business priorities and balance client competitiveness, profitability, risk appetite and operational practicality
Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex pricing, profitability and analytical concepts clearly to executive, business and technical audiences
Strong relationship-building, influencing, facilitation, prioritization, project management and planning skills
Comfort working with analytics and BI tools, with sufficient technical fluency to ask the right questions and partner effectively with analytics and technology teams
Ability to create practical tools, playbooks, training materials and presentations that support adoption and sustained behaviour change.
High degree of initiative, adaptability, curiosity and sound judgment, with the ability to manage competing priorities and drive outcomes through ambiguity
Attention to detail and a strong drive to deliver high-quality work on time.
