The Manager, unsecured Credit Risk is to lead the development of any of originations or account management credit risk strategies and ongoing portfolio management for unsecured lending products (credit cards, unsecured lines of credit, etc.), to optimize risk/return for Canadian Banking within Global Risk Management.

This position combines strong technical execution with business acumen and effective communication to translate portfolio performance into actionable insights for senior stakeholders.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

Develop Credit Risk Strategies

Develop and implement originations and account management strategies, policies, and procedures for Unsecured Lending portfolios using analytics, empirical decision models, and competitive analysis.
Leverage champion/challenger frameworks and incorporate credit bureau, third-party, and non-traditional data sources to continuously enhance strategies and optimize credit decisions and line assignments.
Independently conduct analysis, including data extraction and manipulation using advanced tools, translating data into actionable insights and delivering business intelligence through effective storytelling.
Analyze portfolio trends to identify changes in credit quality, utilization, client behavior, and performance, and develop early-warning indicators to detect population shifts and emerging risks related to unsecured accounts.
Assess client relationship depth across products to support segmentation, targeting, and optimized treatment strategies.
Monitor and evaluate existing strategies to identify opportunities, process gaps, and system limitations; recommend enhancements to ensure alignment with risk appetite and avoid unintended risk exposure.
Perform forward-looking risk assessments to ensure strategies remain within defined risk appetite while balancing growth objectives.
Drive automation and simplification of processes, including the development of risk thresholds, controls, and monitoring frameworks for execution and performance tracking.
Promote best practices, leverage advanced analytical tools, and provide governance over strategy design, deployment, and policy enhancements related to originations and account management.

Support Business Line Initiatives / Projects

Translate analytics into clear, structured, and actionable insights for senior leadership
Support development of executive-ready materials for governance forums, regulatory requests, and business reviews
Provide recommendations to improve portfolio performance, credit quality, and risk-adjusted returns
Deliver timely and high-quality responses to ad-hoc analytical requests

Data Management, Quality & Controls

Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across reporting and analytics outputs
Perform reconciliation, validation, and quality control checks across multiple data sources
Proactively identify and resolve data issues, gaps, or inconsistencies
Maintain documentation on data logic, definitions, and methodologies to support audit and governance requirements

Stakeholder Collaboration & Business Support

Partner with stakeholders across Product, Finance, Collections, and Strategy teams to support initiatives such as:

New programs or policy changes
Credit strategy adjustments
Portfolio risk assessments

Provide subject matter expertise on portfolio performance and risk drivers
Build strong working relationships and influence decision-making through data-driven insights

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

Strong hands-on experience in data analysis and portfolio monitoring
Proficiency in SQL/SAS or Python (required)
Strong experience with Power BI or similar visualization tools
Ability to structure complex analyses and communicate insights effectively

3–5 years of experience in portfolio analytics, credit risk, or financial analytics
Experience in unsecured lending products (Credit Cards, ULOC, etc.) strongly preferred
Proven ability to manage end-to-end analytics deliverables

Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or business discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Computer Science) or compensating work experience
Graduate degree considered an asset

Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail and data accuracy
Effective communication and data storytelling
Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Ownership mindset with a proactive approach to identifying opportunities
