Location: This role requires to work onsite (Markham, ON) up to 4 days per week during testing and key implementation activities.
Job Summary
We are looking for Payroll Specialists with Workday implementation experience to support a large-scale payroll transformation initiative while also assisting with day-to-day payroll operations. This role will play a critical part in payroll testing, validation, system configuration support, issue resolution, and payroll process optimization.
The successful candidate will combine strong Canadian payroll expertise with hands-on participation in Workday Payroll implementations, upgrades, conversions, or transformation projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Support end-to-end payroll processing for a large, multi-provincial workforce
- Participate in Workday Payroll implementation activities, testing, and deployment support
- Execute payroll validation, parallel testing, reconciliations, and data audits
- Investigate system-related payroll issues and recommend solutions
- Assist with configuration reviews, process documentation, and user acceptance testing (UAT)
- Support payroll reporting, controls, and compliance processes
- Partner with Payroll, HR, Finance, IT, and implementation teams to ensure project success
- Contribute to payroll modernization and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with Canadian payroll legislation and organizational policies
Qualifications
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation required
- 3-5+ years of Canadian payroll experience
- Direct experience supporting a Workday Payroll implementation, migration, upgrade, or transformation project
- Experience with system testing, UAT, payroll validation, and reconciliation processes
- Strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation, taxation, and employment standards
- Experience processing payroll in a multi-provincial environment
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced project environment
Highly Preferred
- Experience with Workday Payroll configuration or deployment support
- Experience in healthcare or other large, complex organizations
- Experience supporting payroll change management and process redesign initiatives
