The Opportunity
As an Electrical Designer, you will support the design and development of electrical building systems from the early design stages through construction. You will work closely with engineers, project managers, architects, mechanical and structural consultants, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
The role is well suited to an electrical building services professional with at least two years of industry experience who is looking to take on increasing responsibility, strengthen their technical capabilities, and grow within a collaborative consulting environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop electrical building system designs in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
- Prepare electrical layouts for lighting, power distribution, equipment, and electrical rooms.
- Complete electrical load calculations and support equipment sizing and selection.
- Develop lighting layouts and coordinate electrical systems with architectural, structural, and mechanical designs.
- Produce and update electrical models and drawings using Revit and AutoCAD.
- Review multidisciplinary models and drawings to identify clashes, coordination issues, and space constraints.
- Participate in BIM coordination, model reviews, clash resolution, and model quality checks.
- Coordinate design requirements with architects, engineers, consultants, suppliers, and manufacturers.
- Review electrical services for potential conflicts with ceilings, structure, millwork, and other building components.
- Assist with the preparation and review of technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables.
- Participate in project and technical meetings as required.
- Support construction administration through shop drawing reviews, site visits, field reviews, change notices, and responses to construction-related queries.
- Communicate project and design status to project managers and senior team members.
- Contribute to internal quality control and maintain project documentation in accordance with established standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in electrical building services, ideally within a consulting engineering or design environment.
- Diploma or degree in electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, or a related building services discipline.
- C.E.T. designation or equivalent experience is considered an asset.
- Practical experience with electrical building systems and multidisciplinary building coordination.
- Experience using Autodesk Revit for electrical layouts and building systems design.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD; exposure to AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks Manage, and Dynamo is an asset.
- Familiarity with electrical distribution, lighting, fire alarm, security, communications, or audiovisual systems.
- Ability to perform or support electrical load and lighting calculations.
- Understanding of applicable Canadian building codes and electrical standards.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities and working toward project deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- A demonstrated interest in continued technical development and career progression.

Compensation Transparency
The expected compensation range for this position is $60,000 - $90,000 annually, depending on experience, technical skills, and qualifications. Additional compensation and benefits will be discussed during the hiring process.
