Edmonton Islamic Academy (EIA) is seeking Substitute Educational Assistants to support students in our Elementary Division on an as-needed basis
The successful candidate will provide instructional, behavioral, and classroom support under the direction of the classroom teacher. The Educational Assistant will work with students individually and in small groups, assist with student supervision, and help create a positive and supportive learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide instructional and behavioral support to students under the direction of the classroom teacher
- Support students in following individualized learning plans and classroom programming
- Work one-on-one or in small groups with students as required
- Assist with student behavior management and provide appropriate support when challenging behaviors arise
- Support students with classroom activities, routines, and transitions
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other staff regarding student progress and needs
- Assist teachers with classroom organization, learning materials, and resource preparation
- Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, recesses, and other assigned time
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and school personnel
- Follow Edmonton Islamic Academy policies, procedures, and expectations
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications, Education And Experience
- Educational Assistant Certificate, Level 2 Early Childhood Educator or comparable education is an asset
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training is an asset
- Courses or training related to supporting students with special needs are an asset
- Minimum of one year of related experience is preferred
- Experience working with elementary-aged students is considered an asset
