The Role
Reporting to the Manager, Software Engineering, the Senior Software Developer, Subsurface Information Management, is responsible for the end-to-end design, development, and release of high-performance platform services and APIs that enable analytics, data science, business intelligence, and AI workflows for geoscience data. The role balances technical execution, software architecture, project planning, stakeholder engagement, and mentorship to deliver secure, scalable solutions across the Seequent platform and connected application ecosystem.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Design and architect complex software applications, components, web services, and APIs that meet functional, non-functional, security, and scalability requirements.
- Develop, test, document, maintain, and refactor complex programs, scripts, integration services, and secure interfaces to geoscience data and services.
- Develop and optimize data models for transactional and analytical workloads, balancing performance, scalability, and business requirements.
- Evaluate design alternatives and trade-offs, using models, simulations, or prototypes to gain stakeholder alignment and support effective delivery.
- Set and uphold software development standards, methods, tools, and security practices, and lead reviews of designs and code produced by the team.
- Plan and coordinate releases across teams, including CI/CD pipelines, observability, quality, security, compliance, change communication, and post-release improvement.
- Define and deliver small projects or sub-projects, managing scope, schedules, quality, risks, communications, costs, resources, and stakeholder involvement.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members while collaborating with architects, engineering leaders, principal engineers, and team leads.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
- 7+ years of experience in relevant software development positions.
- Experience building enterprise-scale data solutions that support high data volumes and high concurrent usage.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL data storage, with strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and JSON.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Familiarity with containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code, including technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka or Event Hub, together with API integrations.
- Ability to work autonomously on complex technical challenges, influence stakeholders, collaborate across functions, communicate complex ideas, and apply security, privacy, and ethical practices.
Additional Information
Hybrid work from the local office 2 days a week and home-based the remainder of the week.
