INTERMEDIATE ACCOUNTING & ASSURANCE ASSOCIATE

Position Summary
Segal GCSE LLP is a rapidly growing mid-size accounting, tax and business advisory firm situated in midtown Toronto. This blended role provides balanced exposure to accounting, assurance, and tax engagements. Working with increasing independence, the Intermediate Associate completes assigned files and engagement sections, prepares accurate documentation, identifies and escalates issues, and communicates professionally with clients and reviewers.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct compilations, audit, review and tax engagements
- Prepare and complete financial statements, working papers, corresponding notes/letters and tax returns per regulatory standards
- Investigate and correct discrepancies/irregularities in financial entries, documents and reports
- Raise issues identified with manager or engagement partner while coming up with potential solutions
- · Update manager or engagement manager on progress of engagements and client files
- · Prepare and draft professional correspondences, technical reports and client summaries outlining findings, facts and results of engagement
- · Respond to client questions and queries
- Pre engagement – work with the Manager on the engagement, prior to the start of the engagement, to discuss roles, responsibilities, risk areas and deadlines
- Review work completed by junior associates and providing feedback on the work done on the client engagement
- Develops a thorough understanding of the client’s industry and opportunities, including any issues and trends that impact the specific market or sector
- Builds, nurtures and maintains strong working relationships with clients, peers, and team
- Shares and transfers knowledge within the team
Qualifications & Skills
- Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, business or a related field; progress toward a CPA designation is preferred.
- A minimum of two years of relevant public accounting experience, ideally across assurance and compilation, bookkeeping or tax files.
- Foundational knowledge of Canadian accounting, assurance and compilation standards, financial statements and tax compliance.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; CaseWare, Jazzit, TaxPrep or similar software is an asset.
- Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Professional communication, sound judgement, integrity, and a collaborative, adaptable approach.

The annual salary range of $55,000 - $ 65,000. CAD, based on skills, experience, and education. We benchmark regularly to ensure fair, competitive pay and recognize individual contribution.
