Chief Information Officer

Do you believe that technology, data, and digital platforms should open new possibilities? Are you motivated by the opportunity to lead large scale digital transformation while advancing equity, innovation, and employee and student success at one of Canada’s leading post-secondary institutions?

Seneca Polytechnic is seeking a Chief Information Officer to provide institution-wide leadership and strategic direction for information technology, digital platforms, enterprise systems, and data. Reporting to the Vice President, Students and IT, you will play a critical role in shaping Seneca’s digital future, ensuring secure, reliable, and innovative technology services that support teaching, learning, research, and operations.

In this critical role, you will lead IT modernization, strengthen Seneca’s leadership in artificial intelligence, and partner with academic and administrative leaders to ensure technology investments deliver meaningful organizational value.

How You Approach the Role

Seneca operates in a complex post-secondary environment with rapid technological change, evolving learner needs, and increasing cybersecurity risks. In this context, you will

  • Set a clear and compelling vision for Seneca’s information technology and digital strategy, aligned with institutional priorities and long-term plans.
  • Lead the development and execution of a multi-year IT and digital transformation roadmap, including enterprise architecture and technology governance.
  • Advance innovation by collaboratively identifying and leveraging emerging technologies that enhance teaching, learning, research, and institutional effectiveness.
  • Maintain and grow Seneca’s leadership in artificial intelligence, ensuring responsible, ethical, and impactful application across the institution.
  • Embed principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion into technology strategies, policies, and service delivery.
  • Build strong partnerships with academic and administrative leaders to translate institutional needs into effective technology solutions.
  • Foster trust through transparent decision-making, thoughtful communication, and consistent follow through.

What You’ll Do in This Role

As CIO, you will provide strategic, operational, and people leadership across a broad and integrated portfolio, leading a senior IT leadership team and fostering collaboration, accountability, and high performance. You will ensure the secure, reliable, and effective delivery of enterprise technology services while overseeing cybersecurity, data privacy, system resilience, business continuity, and compliance. You will guide the modernization and lifecycle management of enterprise platforms, establish meaningful performance measures, and lead budgeting, resource allocation, vendor management, and contract negotiations. You will also strengthen staff engagement, professional development, and workforce sustainability within a complex and evolving technology environment.

What You Bring

You are a seasoned technology leader who balances strategic vision with operational excellence and brings extensive, progressive experience leading complex IT organizations, enterprise systems, digital transformation, and multi-year initiatives. You exercise strong judgment in managing risk, security, and compliance while enabling innovation, agility, and evidence-based decision-making through data, analytics, and emerging tools. An effective communicator and collaborative partner, you translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights and influence diverse stakeholder groups. You have built inclusive, high-performing leadership teams and lead with integrity, accountability, transparency, and respect.

Seneca supports flexible and inclusive work practices, recognizing diverse leadership styles and experiences. We recognize that leadership experience may be gained through a variety of career paths, including community-based work, sector transitions, or lived experience alongside formal roles. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
