Structural Engineer – Technical Sales & Business Development

SETIN | Greater Toronto Area | Full-Time

SETIN is looking for a commercially minded Structural Engineer who can combine strong technical knowledge with business development and sales.

This is not a traditional engineering role.

We are looking for someone who understands construction, structural systems, and project requirements - but is also confident meeting clients, developing relationships, identifying opportunities, and turning those opportunities into projects.

SETIN provides construction services across residential and commercial projects, including:

• Footing & Foundation
• Concrete Work
• ICF Construction
• Structural Construction Services
• Drywall & Interior Construction
• Specialty Finishes and Related Construction Services

We work with custom home builders, developers, general contractors, architects, designers, commercial clients, and other industry partners across the GTA.

What You’ll Do

Business Development & Sales

• Develop new business with custom home builders, developers, general contractors, architects, designers, and commercial clients
• Prospect through cold calling, email, LinkedIn, networking, site visits, and industry relationships
• Build and manage a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities
• Meet with prospective clients to understand their project scope and technical requirements
• Present SETIN’s capabilities and recommend appropriate construction solutions
• Support quotations, proposals, and project presentations
• Follow up consistently and move opportunities through the sales process
• Build long-term relationships with builders, developers, contractors, and industry partners
• Attend networking events, construction events, and industry meetings on behalf of SETIN

Technical & Project Support

• Review structural drawings, plans, specifications, and project requirements
• Identify project scope, constructability considerations, and potential technical challenges
• Work closely with estimating, operations, and construction teams
• Support pricing discussions and technical clarification with clients
• Communicate effectively between clients, engineers, contractors, and internal teams
• Assist in evaluating project feasibility and construction methods
• Support a smooth handoff from sales into estimating and project execution

Who We’re Looking For

You are someone who:

• Has a background in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with structural experience
• Understands residential and commercial construction
• Is comfortable reading structural drawings and construction documents
• Has excellent communication and presentation skills
• Is confident speaking with builders, developers, architects, contractors, and business owners
• Is comfortable with cold calling and outbound business development
• Can explain technical information in a clear and practical way
• Has strong negotiation and relationship-building skills
• Is proactive, organized, and commercially minded
• Enjoys both the technical and business sides of construction
• Is motivated by performance, growth, and new business development

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field
• P.Eng. designation in Ontario is preferred
• 3+ years of experience in structural engineering, construction, technical sales, or business development
• Experience with residential, custom home, commercial, concrete, foundation, or ICF projects is a strong asset
• Existing relationships with builders, developers, architects, engineers, or contractors are highly valued
• Previous technical sales or construction business development experience is an asset
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel to meetings and project sites throughout the GTA

Compensation & Growth

Base salary + highly attractive commission structure

This position offers strong earning potential for someone who can consistently generate and close new business.
