Original job description
Who We Are
At SFIR Consulting Ltd., we are on a mission to redefine accounting.
We believe our systems team should be proactive, trusted advisors, not reactive service providers. That means staying engaged with clients well beyond go-live, ensuring the systems we implement continue to serve their business as it evolves.
We offer systems implementations and consulting across accounting and ERP systems, grounded in the full cycle accounting and sales tax expertise that shapes how we approach every engagement. We combine "Big Firm Expertise" with "Small Firm Values" to deliver thoughtful, tailored solutions, and we take that responsibility seriously, whether we're setting up a new system or supporting the accounting work that runs through it.
Job Description
We are hiring one full-time, permanent System Implementation
Specialist to join our Systems Department, working on our Priority
ERP stream. This posting is for an existing vacancy.
As the primary driver of client-facing Priority ERP work at SFIR Consulting, the System Implementation Specialist participates in client kick-off meetings, then leads the scoping meetings and the execution of the work that follows. These are larger engagements, longer in duration, and they span the breadth of an ERP system. You will hold ultimate accountability for the accurate, on-time technical delivery of each assigned client engagement, working in close partnership with the assigned Project Manager, who oversees overall project timelines and progress.
Alongside implementation projects, you will deliver Priority ERP System Consulting, which ranges from ongoing advisory support on an already-implemented system to potentially picking up and completing an implementation a third party began.
Across every engagement, you provide the technical substance behind the work, explaining requirements, systems, and tools, and addressing technical questions as they arise. Clients gain confidence knowing they are hearing directly from the person who will configure and deliver the solution.
This Role Is for Someone Who…
- Owns technical delivery end to end without requiring oversight
to confirm the work is correct.Owns technical delivery end
to end without requiring oversight to confirm the work is correct.
- Diagnoses and resolves system and implementation issues under time
pressure, adapting the solution to the client’s environment rather
than relying on a fixed play book for every scenario.
- Adjusts their level of explanation to the audience in the room,
simplifying or going deeper as needed, including explaining
accounting configuration to clients who do not have an accounting background.
- Documents decisions, assumptions, and actions taken throughout an
engagement, clearly enough that the Project Coordinator can track
status without following up.
- Flags risk honestly rather than over-promising on what a system
can do.
- Documents decisions, assumptions, and actions taken throughout
their work.
- Flags risk honestly rather than over-promising on what they can deliver.
- Is building a career in professional services, not simply
accumulating a title.
What You Will Be Responsible For
Client and Revenue-Focused Work
- Participate in client kick-off meetings for Priority ERP System
Implementation projects, then lead the scoping meetings that follow
to determine the exact scope, tasks, and sequencing required for
delivery, producing a clear and correctly sequenced Scope of Works
and execution plan.
- Lead User Training sessions, User Acceptance Testing, and any
other technical meetings required throughout the engagement,
confirming the delivered system meets the client’s requirements
before go-live.
- Configure and customize the Priority ERP system to meet specific
client needs in a precise and creative manner, adapting standard
functionality and processes to the client’s environment.
- Configure the accounting module, including the chart of accounts,
tax codes, and linking inventory to accounts payable and accounts
receivable, and determine what to hand off to the client’s own
accounting team to complete.
- Deploy the Priority ERP system, ensuring the configured and
customized solution is properly implemented in the client’s environment.
- Consult with clients and internal stakeholders throughout the
implementation so that the solution reflects their requirements.
- Handle scope changes during implementation projects formally
through the Change Request process, documenting the requested change
and its impact on scope, timeline, and cost.
- Deliver and execute all Priority ERP System Implementation work,
ensuring accurate, on-time go-lives.
- Deliver Priority ERP System Consulting engagements, ranging from
simple to complex.
- Provide training, ongoing support, and professional communication
with clients and users, whether in person or through remote tools
such as Zoom.
- Troubleshoot and resolve real-time system, change-management, and
implementation issues to minimize disruption for clients, escalating
appropriately when an issue falls outside the role’s technical authority.
- Collaborate with the assigned Project Manager and Project
Coordinator to keep engagements on track.
- Direct the day-to-day tasks of any System Support Specialists
assigned to your engagements, clarifying what needs to be done and
by when. This is task-level direction and does not carry
people-management authority.
- Document technical findings, decisions, and outstanding items,
identify gaps or inefficiencies in documentation, hand-offs,
kickoffs, scoping, and delivery, and propose practical improvements
based on direct engagement experience.
- Share lessons learned and new methods with team members to
strengthen consistency across engagements.
Administrative Tasks
- Log and track billable hours accurately for all billable tasks.
- Coordinate regularly with the System Support Manager on
Support Specialist capacity, scheduling, and workload across
active engagements.
- Maintain accurate, up to date, and well-organized records
across all firm tools for all assigned client engagements.
- Participate in weekly check-ins, review reports, and implement
relevant action items department-wide.
- Communicate with internal team members for day-to-day
coordination and administrative correspondence.
- Report all planned leave and absences in advance, per company
leave policy.
- Ensure consistent record-keeping and documentation across
relevant firm systems.
- Schedule and participate in both internal and client-facing
meetings, as applicable.
