Position Summary
The EHS Supervisor will lead the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Environment, Health and Safety programs across SHEIN Canada’s warehouse and supply chain operations. This role will ensure compliance with applicable legislation, company policies, and industry standards while promoting a strong safety culture and reducing workplace risks.
The EHS Supervisor will oversee safety inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations, emergency preparedness, training, audits, and corrective action programs. The role will work closely with Operations, HR, Security, Facilities, contractors, vendors, and other cross-functional teams to maintain a safe, compliant, and efficient working environment.
This position requires the candidate to work fully onsite at the warehouse.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS programs, procedures, standards, and initiatives for warehouse and supply chain operations.
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of EHS personnel, ensuring effective coverage, execution, and follow-up of safety programs.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and risk assessments to identify unsafe conditions and recommend practical corrective actions.
- Monitor compliance with applicable occupational health and safety, environmental, emergency response, and company requirements.
- Ensure timely completion, documentation, and follow-up of corrective and preventive actions.
- Lead or support investigations of workplace incidents, near misses, injuries, occupational illnesses, property damage, and other safety-related events.
- Prepare and review incident reports, root cause analyses, corrective action plans, and follow-up documentation.
- Analyze EHS performance data, including injury trends, incident frequency, inspection findings, audit results, corrective actions, and training completion rates.
- Establish and maintain accurate EHS records, reports, permits, training logs, inspection results, incident files, and compliance documentation.
- Lead internal EHS audits, inspections, and compliance reviews, and coordinate the timely resolution of identified deficiencies.
- Support the development, implementation, and testing of emergency response plans, evacuation procedures, emergency drills, first aid readiness, and crisis response protocols.
- Deliver or coordinate training on workplace safety, hazard identification, incident reporting, emergency response, personal protective equipment, safe work practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure subcontractors, vendors, visitors, and temporary workers comply with company EHS requirements while onsite.
- Partner with Operations, HR, Security, Facilities, and other cross-functional teams to promote a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace.
- Provide guidance and coaching to managers, supervisors, and employees on hazard prevention, regulatory compliance, and safety performance improvement.
- Promote employee participation, safety awareness, near-miss reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support Loss Prevention and Security teams with workplace security, access control, inventory protection, incident investigations, and other risk reduction initiatives.
- Monitor and support compliance with physical security, asset protection, inventory handling, and loss prevention controls where applicable.
- Perform other EHS-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Security Management, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in EHS, occupational health and safety, warehouse operations, distribution, logistics, manufacturing, or a related environment.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is required.
- Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation, environmental compliance requirements, risk assessment methods, hazard controls, and incident investigation processes.
- Experience developing and implementing EHS programs, conducting audits and inspections, managing corrective actions, and maintaining compliance documentation.
- Familiarity with EHS management systems and standards such as ISO 14001, ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001, or similar frameworks is preferred.
- First Aid certification from a WSIB-approved training organization is required or must be obtained within the required timeframe.
- Additional certifications in occupational health and safety, environmental compliance, emergency management, security, or loss prevention are considered an asset.
- Experience in warehouse, distribution center, logistics, retail supply chain, or manufacturing operations is strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with employees, managers, contractors, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and recommend practical solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including experience preparing reports, dashboards, audit records, and compliance documentation.
- Ability to work fully onsite at the warehouse and support operations outside standard working hours when required.
