Original job description

Location: Remote or Hybrid (Sherbrooke or Montreal office)

Here’s what we do and why we do it

We work to simplify the cloud for IT professionals so they can focus on what really matters, making their customers’ lives better. Find out how we do that here: www.sherweb.com/about/.

Here's how you will contribute to the success of the company

As an Operational Developer, you will help improve the delivery of our IT solutions by contributing to the implementation, maintenance, and continuous enhancement of our tools and platforms. You will also be involved in transitioning solutions to Operations teams, facilitating knowledge transfer, and supporting the growth of your peers’ expertise.

Your responsibilities will include:

Collaborating with Development, Architecture, Operations, and Security teams to implement reliable, secure, and automated solutions that meet business needs.
Maintaining and enhancing the organization’s continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, as well as GitOps practices.
Developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration as Code (CaC) solutions to enable automated and repeatable management of technology environments.
Implementing and supporting shared technology services required by delivery teams, such as container platforms, messaging systems, databases, integration solutions, and cloud services.
Establishing self-service capabilities and reusable templates that enable teams to deliver IT resources, components, and services more rapidly while complying with organizational standards.
Leveraging artificial intelligence technologies to develop and deploy automations, assistants, agents, or reusable skills aimed at reducing manual tasks and improving operational efficiency.
Carry out all other related tasks per the job’s evolution and departmental needs

Here's what you need to have and master to get the job

College diploma or university degree in Information Technology or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in software development and systems administration.
Concrete experience with DevSecOps culture, practices, and tools.
Experience creating AI-powered skills using GitHub Copilot or similar tools to automate recurring tasks within an internal development platform environment is considered an asset.
Knowledge and hands-on experience with SAST, DAST, code quality, and observability tools (e.g., Trivy, SonarQube, Snyk, Dependabot, Mend, Datadog).
Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep) and Configuration as Code (Ansible, DSC).
Microsoft certification relevant to the role is required (to be determined based on position requirements).
Ability to develop and maintain scripts using Python, PowerShell, and Bash.
Knowledge of native Azure environments, virtual machines, and containerized platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, AKS, VMs, Helm Charts, Redis, RabbitMQ, Istio).
Knowledge of CI/CD tools and GitOps practices (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Octopus Deploy, Argo CD).
Good knowledge of operating systems, including Windows Server and Ubuntu Linux.
Solid knowledge of database systems, including Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and NoSQL databases.
Excellent English skills, both spoken and written, are essential; fluency in French is an important asset.

Benefits of working at Sherweb

A fast-paced work environment that adapts to you

Beautiful offices for meetups and collaborative work (Sherbrooke and downtown Montréal)
State-of-the art technology and tools
A results-oriented culture where talent, action, and thinking outside the box are given due recognition
Generous and caring colleagues of various professional and cultural backgrounds
Opportunity to recommend quality talent from your network through our generous referral program

A flexible total compensation offer

A base salary ranging between $72 800 and $104 000 annually
Vacation time that considers your previous experience
Advanced paid hours to recharge your batteries (holidays and mobile days)
A corporate discount program to help you save at merchants in your community

Considerable growth opportunities

Proximity to your direct manager and open, honest communication to support your development
Multiple initial and on-the-job training opportunities and tools to track your progress and help you scale up in your career

Last but not least: “Sherweblife” - a rich calendar of activities that allow us to gather virtually and face-to-face throughout the year
