Role Description The Regulated Pharmacy Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Belleville, ON. This role supports the pharmacist in preparing, checking, and dispensing prescriptions in accordance with regulatory standards and company policies. Day-to-day responsibilities include processing prescriptions, managing inventory, organizing medications, and maintaining accurate documentation and records. The Regulated Pharmacy Technician provides courteous, efficient customer service by answering questions within scope of practice, communicating clearly with patients and health care providers, and helping resolve issues related to prescriptions. The role also involves supporting workflow optimization in the dispensary, adhering to safety and confidentiality requirements, and contributing to a clean, organized work environment.
Qualifications
- Current registration and good standing as a Regulated Pharmacy Technician with the appropriate provincial regulatory body (e.g., Ontario College of Pharmacists).
- Strong technical pharmacy skills, including prescription processing, product preparation, and accuracy checking within regulated scope of practice.
- Knowledge of pharmacy software systems, point-of-sale technology, and basic computer applications used in retail pharmacy settings.
- Customer service and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, caregivers, pharmacists, and other health care professionals.
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety and compliance.
- Understanding of relevant legislation, standards of practice, and privacy/confidentiality requirements in a community pharmacy.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, handle stock and supplies, and follow safe work practices.
- Experience in a retail or community pharmacy environment is an asset; proficiency in both English and French is considered beneficial in some locations.
