Original job description

Sidebar Grill is coming to Chilliwack!

We’re opening a brand-new Sidebar Grill location and are looking for an ambitious, passionate culinary leader to help us build something special from the ground up.

Sidebar Grill is a growing restaurant brand focused on great food, great people, and a great guest experience. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their craft, knows how to lead a team, and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and get involved.

If you’re creative, hardworking, organized, and can cook a mean chicken, we’d love to meet you.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As our Head Chef, you’ll play a key role in establishing and leading the kitchen operation at our new Chilliwack location. You’ll be responsible for creating a kitchen culture built around quality, consistency, teamwork, and hospitality.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants more than just a kitchen job - you’ll have the chance to help shape the team, systems, menu, and future of the restaurant.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Lead the Kitchen

Manage day-to-day kitchen operations and lead the culinary team.
Set the standard for food quality, presentation, consistency, and execution.
Ensure food is prepared according to recipes, standards, and food-safety requirements.
Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and efficient kitchen.
Ensure kitchen equipment is properly maintained and in good working order.

Build & Develop the Team

Recruit, hire, train, coach, and retain great kitchen team members.
Create a positive, respectful, and accountable kitchen culture.
Prepare schedules and optimize staffing to meet business needs.
Provide hands-on leadership and support during service.
Develop team members and create opportunities for growth.

Drive Food Quality & Profitability

Manage inventory, ordering, food costs, waste, and portion control.
Monitor food costs and identify opportunities to improve profitability without compromising quality.
Work with ownership and management on menu development, promotions, and new food offerings.
Experiment with new recipes and ideas that reflect guest preferences and current restaurant trends.
Help develop and implement catering offerings.

Deliver an Exceptional Guest Experience

Monitor food leaving the kitchen to ensure every plate meets Sidebar Grill standards.
Maintain strong communication between the kitchen, front-of-house team, GM, and ownership.
Respond professionally to food-related guest feedback and ensure appropriate follow-up.
Keep a strong focus on ticket times, consistency, quality, and flawless execution.

Help Build the Chilliwack Location

Participate in operational and leadership meetings.
Help establish kitchen systems, standards, and processes for the new location.
Work with the GM and ownership team to develop the long-term direction of the restaurant.
Bring ideas, energy, and creativity to help grow the Sidebar Grill brand.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for someone who is:

A strong and confident kitchen leader.
Passionate about food and hospitality.
Creative and excited about developing new menu ideas.
Organized, dependable, and excellent at time management.
A natural team builder who knows how to motivate and develop people.
Hands-on and willing to lead by example.
Self-motivated and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Focused on food quality, service, ticket times, and the overall guest experience.
Committed to food safety and operational excellence.
A strong communicator who works well with both kitchen and management teams.
Ambitious and interested in growing with a developing restaurant brand.

WHY SIDEBAR GRILL?

This isn’t an opportunity to simply take over an established kitchen.

You’ll be part of building the kitchen from the beginning.

You’ll have the opportunity to help recruit your team, establish the culture, influence the menu, build systems, develop catering, and play a meaningful role in the success of our new Chilliwack location.

If you’re ready to take ownership, bring your ideas to the table, and help us build something we can be proud of, we want to hear from you.

Apply today and tell us why you’re the right person to lead Sidebar Grill Chilliwack.
