Our commitment to employees brings together rewarding work, competitive total compensation, support for wellbeing, and opportunities to learn, lead, and grow.

Whether you are starting your career or bringing years of experience, explore the possibilities across mining operations, skilled trades, geology, engineering, and business support. Bring your ambition, build your skills, and be part of a team working toward a shared future.

Life in Thompson, Manitoba, adds another dimension to the opportunity. Northern Manitoba's "Hub Of the North" combines community connection with an outdoor lifestyle. Whether you enjoy exploring nature, getting involved in community activities, or building a home and career in the North, Thompson offers room to create a life that reflects What matters to you.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Engineer in Training (EIT) to join our Mines Technical Services Team in Thompson, Manitoba. This is a permanent position.

In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance of our 24-Month Rolling Schedule in Deswik. This schedule is used to set production targets for various time periods, and to schedule out conflicts which may put those targets at risk. The incumbent will work collaboratively with their peers in the engineering team and cross-functionally with all other areas of the operations.

Additionally, in this position you will:

Maintain the 24-Month Rolling Schedule in Deswik used to set production targets.
Ensure proper assignment of backfill to stopes for forecasting consumables.
Link mine infrastructure to production.
Update stope designs using Deswik mine design software.
Update development designs for accessing the ore body and other infrastructure.
Manage projects related to mine improvement and infrastructure replacement.
Communicate with operation, contractor, and construction crews to maintain scheduled timelines.

What We Offer You

Competitive compensation including a variable annual incentive plan.
Participation in a competitive Defined Contribution Pension package.
Comprehensive benefits package (company-paid core coverage, health and dental coverage, flex accounts, disability plans and optional insurances).
Leave for all of life's reasons (vacation, personal, sick, parental).
Work culture dedicated to safety, diversity & inclusion, and career growth.
Employee Family Assistance Program.
Virtual Healthcare online.

About You

Education:

Engineering Degree in Mining is required.
Must be eligible to register as an Engineer in Training with the professional engineering association in Manitoba.

Experience:

2 years of underground mining experience is an asset; EIT's with less experience are encouraged to apply.

Skills:

MS Office expertise: Expert knowledge of MS Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
3D mine design software: Experience with 3D mine design software (Deswik preferred).
Problem-solving and analysis: Strong problem-solving, data analysis, and communication skills.
Time management: Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Safety Leadership: Demonstrates a commitment to safety by identifying risks, following procedures, and promoting a safe and healthy work environment.
Collaboration: Builds positive working relationships and works effectively with others to achieve shared goals.
Communication: Communicates clearly, listens actively, and adapts communication style to the audience.
Results Orientation: Focuses on achieving objectives and delivering measurable outcomes.

Why Thompson

Often referred to as the "Hub Of the North," Thompson is a city deeply intertwined with the mining industry, particularly due to its rich deposits of nickel.
Exiro Nickel's presence in Thompson includes significant mining and milling operations that extract and process nickel ore from the surrounding deposits. These operations are central to Thompson's economy, providing employment and supporting local businesses.
The company's ongoing investments in the region highlight Thompson's importance in our broader operational strategy to improve life and transform the future.

We welcome diverse perspectives and are committed to a workplace where people are treated fairly, all cultures are respected, and everyone can contribute. Accommodation is available throughout the recruitment process for applicants with disabilities. Please let us know what you need when contacted.
