Overview
The Emulation Applications Engineer provides hands-on technical engineering expertise for the implementation, integration, testing, deployment, and support of Siemens EDA hardware-assisted verification and emulation solutions within advanced semiconductor and electronic system development environments.
The engineer works directly with customer engineering teams to understand complex ASIC/SoC design and verification environments, integrate Siemens EDA technologies into those environments, configure and test emulation solutions, troubleshoot technical issues, and enable successful deployment and use of Siemens EDA emulation technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and integrate Siemens EDA emulation and hardware-assisted verification solutions into customer semiconductor design and verification environments.
- Configure, test, validate, and deploy Siemens Veloce emulation solutions for complex ASIC and SoC designs.
- Analyze customer RTL designs, verification environments, software interfaces, and design flows to determine technical implementation requirements.
- Perform hands-on testing and technical validation of integrated emulation environments to ensure solutions operate correctly and meet defined technical requirements.
- Troubleshoot complex hardware/software integration, compilation, runtime, verification, and system-level issues.
- Develop and maintain scripts, automation, configuration, and supporting software used to integrate and operate Siemens EDA/emulation solutions within customer environments.
- Work with SystemVerilog, Verilog, VHDL, C/C++, SystemC, scripting languages, and verification methodologies as required to integrate, test, and debug customer designs.
- Develop technical solutions and workflows that connect Siemens EDA technologies with customer design, verification, software, and infrastructure environments.
- Support customer engineering teams during technical evaluations and production deployment of emulation solutions.
- Reproduce, analyze, document, and resolve product and integration issues in collaboration with Siemens EDA engineering and product-development organizations.
- Provide engineering feedback and technical requirements to Siemens EDA product-development teams based on deployment and integration experience.
- Develop technical demonstrations, implementation examples, and training that enable engineering teams to effectively deploy and use Siemens EDA/emulation technologies.
- Collaborate with customer engineering, Siemens applications engineering, product engineering, R&D, and account teams to ensure successful technical implementation of the solution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- 4+ years of experience in ASIC/SoC design, verification, simulation, emulation, prototyping, or related engineering disciplines.
- Hands-on experience with hardware-assisted verification and emulation technologies such as Siemens Veloce, Cadence Palladium, or Synopsys ZeBu.
- Experience with RTL design and verification using SystemVerilog, Verilog, or VHDL.
- Experience with C, C++, and/or SystemC in semiconductor design, verification, or system environments.
- Experience with verification methodologies and simulation environments such as UVM, Questa, VCS, or equivalent technologies.
- Experience developing engineering automation and integration solutions using Python, Perl, Tcl, shell scripting, or similar languages.
- Ability to diagnose complex problems spanning RTL, verification software, emulation systems, host infrastructure, and customer design environments.
- Experience integrating EDA tools into complex semiconductor development and verification workflows.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work directly with engineering teams on complex technical implementations.
- Ability to travel within North America as required.
