A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Lead Technician at our wind farm, you will serve as a key operational leader supporting the Service Operations Manager (SOM) and acting as an extension of site management. You will coordinate daily field activities, support turbine maintenance and troubleshooting efforts, and help ensure safe, reliable, and efficient site operations. This role combines hands-on turbine work with administrative and leadership responsibilities, requiring strong technical expertise, communication skills, and a commitment to operational excellence.

You will regularly interact with customers, internal stakeholders, field technicians, subcontractors, and vendors to support the successful execution of maintenance activities and contractual obligations. Your primary objective is to maximize turbine availability and site performance while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and productivity.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Collaborate with the Site Operations Manager to coordinate maintenance activities, supervise technician performance, and foster a safety-first environment to ensure efficient and reliable site operations.
  • Conduct comprehensive troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on SG 4X turbines and related systems, ensuring safety and compliance with Siemens Gamesa standards.
  • Proactively review and support the completion of site deliverables such as inspection reports, repair reports, NCR/NCC reporting, and service documentation, ensuring timely and accurate submission of work orders, checklists, time reports, inventory usage, and expenses.
  • Provide proactive support for outage planning, manpower coordination, tooling readiness, and contractor oversight, while assisting with commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance optimization initiatives to enhance turbine reliability, availability, and operational efficiency.
  • Serve as the primary site point of contact during assigned shifts, ensuring effective communication, safety compliance, and supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions to minimize repeat failures.
  • Proactively maintain strong customer relationships through professional communication and responsiveness, while supporting the training, onboarding, and ongoing development of the site team to ensure operational excellence.
  • Ensure adherence to site housekeeping standards and proper maintenance of tools, equipment, and vehicles, while actively participating in on-call rotations to respond promptly to emergency turbine outages and operational issues.

What You Bring

  • Minimum of 3 years of wind turbine experience required, preferably with Siemens Gamesa platforms, or 3+ years of wind experience combined with a technical degree or certification.
  • Hands-on experience with Siemens Gamesa 4X turbine technology, strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills related to electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and control systems, with previous leadership, crew lead, or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical schematics, with familiarity in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite, and experience with turbine reporting and documentation systems.
  • Proven ability to balance multiple priorities, maintain a high level of productivity, and drive results in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure, while also possessing the physical stamina to safely perform tasks at heights in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license, passport, and visa to travel as required for training and other duties.
