Job Location: Catholic Education Centre, 46 Alliance Blvd., Barrie, Ontario

Position Type / Hours: Full-Time Temporary. Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm, 35 hours weekly, plus overtime as required. This job posting is for an existing vacancy effective October 13, 2026 until December 16, 2026.

Annual Compensation: 12 Month Salary Grid Level 2 $58,023 to $71,238 commensurate with education, skills and experience.

The Human Resources (HR) Assistant supports the HR Department in administrative and operational tasks to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations. This role is responsible for accurate and timely data entry to the HRIS and other software programs as well as ensuring reliability with regard to data management and employee records management. The HR Assistant provides recruitment and onboarding support. This position plays a key role in providing optimal customer service and communication to all employees.

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

Data Entry & Records Management: Organize, enter, update, and manage employee information across HRIS, software programs, and trackers (e.g., spreadsheets, SharePoint, PowerSchool) to maintain accurate records for operational decision-making.
Recruitment & Onboarding Support: Provides support to recruitment and onboarding processes.
Administrative & Compliance Duties: Execute annual termination processes, including those related to insufficient assignments per collective agreements or non-completion of Annual Offence Declarations.
Employee Attendance & Leave Support: Support the Employee Attendance Support Program by tracking/reporting absences, generating employee notifications, and assisting leaders with scheduling and conducting meetings. Track and update non-medical Leave of Absence requests to maintain records and comply with collective agreements.
Customer Service: Provides customer service via email and phone to internal staff and external stakeholders, directing inquiries appropriately to ensure prompt issue resolution.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

The successful candidate will bring the following skills and experiences to the role:

2 Year College Diploma in Human Resources, Business or Public Administration
2 years direct experience in Human Resources, preferably in an education environment.
Demonstrated capability to deliver on multiple tasks, with strict adherence to deadlines.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to work autonomously and as part of an interdependent team supporting the Human Resources function.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Proven experience/expertise drafting employee focused correspondence.
Excellence in client/customer service is a must.
Previous experience working with confidential information and maintaining employee privacy.
Highly computer literate, with exceptional skills in Microsoft Office and Google Suite tools.
Strong working knowledge of Applicant Tracking and Human Resources Information Systems, preferably in a K12 education environment.
Proven research and analytical skills with specific reference to matters of legislative compliance and legal obligations.
