The Opportunity:
Reporting to the HR Manager, Simpcw Resources Group is seeking a Talent Acquisition & HR Coordinator to join our growing HR team.
This hands-on role has a strong focus on full-cycle recruitment, supporting multiple divisions and a variety of permanent, project-based, term, and casual/on-call positions. You may be managing 10 or more active vacancies at a time, each with different priorities, timelines, and operational requirements.
Success in this role requires someone who is highly organized, proactive, responsive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where hiring priorities can change quickly.
This isn’t recruitment from behind a desk. You’ll spend time in our operations and at worksites to understand the positions and environments you’re recruiting for, build relationships with our teams, and better identify candidates who will be successful.
You will also support onboarding, orientation, employee changes, offboarding, HRIS administration, and general HR activities, giving you exposure to the full employee lifecycle.
The position may be based in our Barriere or Kamloops, BC office, with preference given to Barriere, where our head office is located. Regular travel to company worksites and operating locations will be required.
Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of Human Resources experience, with hands-on experience supporting full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, and employee administration.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple recruitment processes simultaneously, ideally with experience balancing a high volume of active vacancies at different stages of the recruitment cycle.
- Hands-on experience with full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, resume review, candidate pre-screens, interviews, reference checks, offers, and pre-employment activities.
- Experience working directly with hiring managers to understand staffing requirements, recruitment priorities, timelines, and candidate requirements.
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment where recruitment priorities and timelines can change quickly based on project and operational requirements.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage 10 or more active vacancies, competing deadlines, and multiple hiring managers while maintaining accuracy and follow-through.
- A proactive communication style and the ability to keep hiring managers informed of recruitment status, candidate activity, challenges, and next steps.
- Strong initiative and the ability to move recruitment processes forward without requiring direction at every stage.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
- Experience working with an HRIS, preferably BambooHR.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional, approachable, and service-oriented style.
- Sound professional judgment and the confidence to work independently while recognizing when matters should be escalated.
- A collaborative attitude and willingness to jump in and support the HR team where needed.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and the ability to travel to company worksites and operating locations as required.
- Experience administering employee benefits and pension programs is considered an asset.
- Experience working with Indigenous organizations or communities is considered an asset.

Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
Recruitment will be a significant part of your role. You will coordinate full-cycle recruitment across our diverse business operations for positions ranging from project-based and casual/on-call field roles to permanent operational, technical, administrative, and professional positions.
You will:
- Coordinate full-cycle recruitment across multiple divisions and employment types, including permanent full-time, project-based, term, and casual/on-call positions.
- Manage a high volume of concurrent recruitment activity, regularly balancing 10 or more active vacancies at different stages of the recruitment process.
- Prioritize recruitment activity based on operational requirements, project schedules, candidate availability, and hiring timelines.
- Respond to changing staffing requirements and time-sensitive hiring needs while maintaining an organized and consistent recruitment process.
- Partner closely with hiring managers to understand their operations, staffing needs, timelines, and the skills and experience required for success in each position.
- Maintain regular and proactive communication with hiring managers, providing updates on applicant activity, candidate pipelines, interviews, recruitment challenges, and next steps.
- Follow up with hiring managers throughout the recruitment process to obtain feedback and decisions and keep vacancies moving forward.
- Develop, review, and maintain job descriptions and hiring profiles in collaboration with hiring managers.
- Create and post engaging job advertisements through appropriate recruitment channels.
- Monitor postings and applicant activity and adjust recruitment approaches where required.
- Review resumes and applications and conduct initial candidate screening and pre-screen interviews.
- Coordinate interviews and participate in candidate interviews alongside hiring managers.
- Provide hiring managers with recruitment support and guidance throughout the evaluation and selection process.
- Coordinate reference checks and other required pre-employment activities.
- Maintain timely and professional communication with candidates throughout the recruitment process and provide appropriate closure to unsuccessful candidates.
- Prepare offer letters, employment agreements, and required pre-employment documentation.
- Maintain accurate candidate records, recruitment workflows, and hiring pipelines within BambooHR.
- Spend time at worksites and operating locations to build relationships with managers and employees and gain a practical understanding of the positions, working conditions, and work environments you are recruiting for.
- Build and maintain candidate pipelines for recurring, high-volume, and hard-to-fill positions.
- Identify recruitment challenges early and work with the HR Manager and hiring managers to determine appropriate recruitment strategies.
- Continuously look for opportunities to improve recruitment processes, increase efficiency, and strengthen both the candidate and hiring manager experience.
- Help promote Simpcw Resources Group as an employer of choice within Simpcw’ulécw and the communities where we operate.
Onboarding & Orientation
You will take a lead role in ensuring new employees have an organized, welcoming, and positive start with Simpcw Resources Group.
You will:
- Coordinate the onboarding process for new employees from accepted offer through their first days and weeks of employment.
- Prepare and coordinate new hire documentation and required onboarding activities.
- Facilitate and deliver HR new hire orientation sessions.
- Coordinate system access, equipment requests, and other onboarding requirements with internal departments.
- Assist with scheduling and coordinating required Safety and Environmental orientations.
- Ensure required employment documentation, certifications, acknowledgements, and training requirements are completed and appropriately recorded.
- Follow up on outstanding onboarding requirements and maintain accurate onboarding records.
- Work closely with hiring managers to ensure they are prepared for new employees joining their teams.
- Help create a consistent and positive onboarding experience across the organization.
- Continuously improve onboarding materials, checklists, and processes.
Employee Changes & Offboarding
You will help ensure employee changes and departures are handled accurately, professionally, and consistently.
You will:
- Coordinate employee lifecycle changes, including transfers, promotions, leaves, changes in employment status, and other employee changes.
- Prepare employee change documentation and ensure HRIS records are updated accurately and on time.
- Coordinate offboarding for resignations, terminations, layoffs, and the completion of project or term assignments.
- Prepare and coordinate required offboarding documentation and internal notifications.
- Coordinate the return of company property, removal of system access, and other departure requirements with the appropriate departments.
- Assist with exit interviews and maintain appropriate offboarding documentation.
- Ensure employee files and BambooHR records are complete and accurate at the conclusion of employment.
- Work closely with Payroll and other internal departments to ensure employee changes and departures are communicated and processed accurately and on time.
HRIS Administration
As a key user of BambooHR, you will help ensure our employee information and HR processes remain accurate, organized, and efficient.
You will:
- Serve as a primary administrator and internal resource for BambooHR.
- Maintain accurate employee records, organizational information, and HR documentation.
- Process employee lifecycle transactions, including new hires, transfers, promotions, leaves, employee changes, and terminations.
- Maintain recruitment, hiring, and onboarding workflows within BambooHR.
- Generate HR reports and support workforce reporting, audits, and compliance requirements.
- Regularly review employee information to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and completeness.
- Identify opportunities to improve BambooHR workflows and increase HR process efficiency.
HR Administration & Team Support
As part of a collaborative HR team, you will also:
- Respond to general employee and manager HR inquiries and escalate more complex matters to the HR Manager as appropriate.
- Administer employee benefit and pension processes, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
- Maintain confidential employee records, HR documentation, and digital files.
- Assist with HR initiatives, training programs, internal communications, and policy updates.
- Support HR reporting and administrative requirements.
- Assist with employee engagement and other HR initiatives as needed.
- Support consistent HR practices across our diverse operations, including forestry, retail, construction, infrastructure, hospitality, and other business areas.
