Develop, implement and monitor policies, standards and processes covering the data lifecycle, including data ownership and stewardship, classification, quality, access, sharing, retention, protection and disposal.
Translate Whole-of-Government data management and security requirements into practical organisational controls and operating practices.
Work with business units, data owners, IT, cybersecurity, legal and audit teams to embed data governance requirements into ICT systems, projects, and business processes.
Oversee the management of data incidents, including response coordination, reporting, remediation and follow-up actions to prevent recurrence.
Plan and implement capability-building, engagement and outreach programmes to strengthen data literacy, stewardship and security awareness across SLA.

[What we are looking for]

Degree in Data or Information Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
At least five years of relevant experience in data governance, data management, data protection, data security or related areas, preferably with experience leading a team or cross-functional initiatives.
Good understanding of data governance principles and practices, including data stewardship, data quality, classification, sharing, access controls and lifecycle management.
Knowledge of public-sector data governance and security requirements, or experience working in a regulated environment, would be an advantage.
Knowledge of personal data protection requirements and responsible data use.
Understanding of how data policies and controls relate to ICT systems, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, analytics and AI initiatives.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance operational needs, data value, security and compliance considerations.
Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex requirements clearly and influence stakeholders at different levels.
Resourceful, self-motivated and able to work independently while leading and collaborating effectively across teams.
