Original job description

Who We Are

Group SJR is the original full-service content consultancy. Today’s leading organizations are grounded in unique skills, knowledge, and perspective but success depends on their ability to tell the world. At SJR we help them do exactly that; by discovering, developing and distributing their inimitable narrative. Anchored in the brand, the narrative provides the through-line that enables us to detail strategy and elevate communications programs.

About WPP

Group SJR is part of WPP, the trusted growth partner for the world's leading brands. Powered by exceptional talent and our agentic marketing platform WPP Open, WPP unites cutting-edge media intelligence and data solutions, creativity, production, enterprise solutions and expert strategic counsel.

Who Are We

SJR is an award-winning communications consultancy, working with some of the world’s best and biggest brands. We believe in the power of transformative content, brought to life by our team of uncommon talents. We combine journalistic rigor, strategic communications sensibilities and creative intelligence to sharpen the conversation, decode complexity, build trust, and make good ideas explode.

We hire passionate innovators to join us on our mission to create best-in-class brand storytelling.

Who We Are Looking For

We are currently seeking an Account Manager to join our growing Toronto-based team. In this critical role, you will work on various accounts and champion an outstanding client experience by delivering programs that consistently meet and exceed client expectations - on time and within budget. In making it all happen, you will liaise with clients, in-house teams, and external suppliers to maintain an organized workflow from idea through to execution, and measurement. The ideal candidate thrives on delivering creative solutions and is committed to going above and beyond to uphold the highest standards that define working at SJR.

What You’ll Do

Client & Account Management

Lead day-to-day client communication and account administration
Manage and communicate project timelines, deliverables, budgets and scopes of work
Assist in identifying organic growth opportunities aligned with client and agency strategy

PR, Media & Influencer Execution

Execute end-to-end influencer programs, including media and influencer sourcing, outreach, pitching, contracting, briefing, content review, approvals and performance tracking
Develop program materials (e.g., press release, key messages, event signage, etc.)
Liaise with vendors and partners to support events, activations, and campaign execution
Prepare plans, status updates, and wrap reports, including results and insights

Content Marketing

Drive client success by recommending and shaping strategic content that spans long-form editorial, engaging website experiences and effective social media and video executions
Participate in content strategy development, helping to craft and present compelling strategic decks and presentations to clients.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (creative, editorial, media, technical) to ensure the strategic intent of a campaign is carried all the way through to execution.

Strategy & Planning

Remain current on your clients’ business, industry, audience, and competitive landscape
Support strategy development and client presentations (ideas, programs, budgets, etc.)
Translate ideas into clear, concise briefs for editorial, creative, and production teams

Project Management & Collaboration

Own day-to-day project management, including timelines, status updates, and budgets
Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills when addressing client requests
Help guide and coach junior staff, supporting their growth and development
Collaborate with in-house strategy, editorial, and design teams

What You’ll Bring

3–5 years of experience in an agency
Proven experience executing comprehensive PR and influencer campaigns, including strong media and influencer relations (outreach, pitching, materials development).
Exceptional organizational, time management, and project coordination skills, with a track record of delivering high-quality work on tight deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing error-free, grammatically correct materials efficiently.
Proficiency with collaborative tools and project management platforms (e.g., Monday.com, Microsoft Teams) and advanced use of Microsoft Office.
A collaborative spirit, high standards, and a strong commitment to teamwork and client success.
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.

What We Offer

SJR office is located in the WPP Toronto Campus at the Toronto's Waterfront Innovation Centre with state-of-the-art amenities
Competitive salary and time off policies
Flexible benefits package, Employee Assistance Program and Wellness Reimbursement
A team of intellectually curious, empathetic, and collaborative people

The base salary for this position at the time of this posting may range between the values at the bottom of this posting. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications.

$45,000 - $95,000 CAD
