Industry: Geotechnical Engineering / Environmental Consulting

About the Opportunity
Skyline Recruitment is partnering with a well-established, employee-owned engineering and environmental consulting firm seeking an Intermediate to Senior Geotechnical Project Manager to join its growing Ottawa team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced geotechnical professional looking to take the next step in their career, with genuine scope to develop into a senior technical and project leadership position.
Our client is particularly interested in individuals with strong technical foundations, project management experience and an interest in developing long-term client relationships.
You don't need to arrive with an established business development portfolio. The company is open to supporting and mentoring an ambitious professional who wants to develop their commercial capabilities alongside their technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage geotechnical investigations and consulting projects from initial planning through technical reporting and completion.
- Coordinate field investigations, drilling programs, laboratory testing and construction-related geotechnical services.
- Prepare and review geotechnical reports, technical recommendations, proposals and project budgets.
- Provide technical input on foundations, slope stability, retaining walls, earthworks, excavation support and ground conditions.
- Oversee project schedules, budgets, resources and subcontractors.
- Develop and maintain relationships with developers, contractors, municipalities and other engineering professionals.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary environmental, hydrogeological and engineering teams.
- Mentor junior engineers, technologists and field staff.
- Support business development initiatives, proposal preparation and the continued growth of the Ottawa office.
What We're Looking For
- A degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology or a related discipline.
- Ideally 7+ years of relevant geotechnical consulting experience, with flexibility depending on technical expertise and project responsibilities.
- Experience coordinating or independently managing geotechnical investigations and engineering projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of geotechnical investigations, foundation engineering, earthworks, construction materials or related services.
- Experience preparing technical reports, proposals and cost estimates.
- Strong communication, organizational and client relationship management skills.
- A P.Eng., C.E.T. or C.Tech. designation is considered an asset, with responsibilities aligned to professional qualifications.
- Experience mentoring junior professionals would be beneficial.
Previous business development experience is advantageous but not essential. We're equally interested in candidates with strong industry connections, established client relationships or a genuine desire to develop in this area.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
- Career progression: Opportunity to develop into a senior geotechnical project management role.
- Mentorship and support: Work alongside experienced technical professionals who are invested in your long-term development.
- Business development exposure: Build your commercial skills and client network with guidance from established leaders.
- Meaningful project ownership: Take responsibility for varied geotechnical assignments across Ottawa and the surrounding region.
- Employee-owned culture: Join an established, collaborative consultancy with a long-term approach to growth.
