Ruby on Rails Developer

We're looking for a Full Stack Engineer who is comfortable working across a mature Ruby on Rails application with Vue.js on the frontend.

This is a hands-on role in a fast-moving SaaS environment. You’ll be expected to build new features, improve existing systems, troubleshoot production and customer issues, and occasionally join customer or partner calls when deeper technical expertise is needed.

We value engineers who take ownership, communicate clearly, move quickly when needed, and reliably deliver against agreed timelines.

What You’ll Work On

• Build and maintain features across Ruby on Rails and Vue.js
• Help evolve our architecture, performance, scalability, and technical roadmap
• Work with APIs, integrations, background processing, multi-tenancy, and data modeling
• Refactor existing code and reduce technical debt where it makes sense
• Review pull requests and maintain a high standard for code quality
• Support AWS and Cloudflare infrastructure, monitoring, reliability, and incident response
• Partner with Product on feasibility, technical trade-offs, and build-vs-buy decisions

Customer & Production Support

Engineering at SkyPrep is involved beyond roadmap development.

• Investigate technical support tickets and production issues as they come in
• Troubleshoot customer integrations, APIs, and unexpected platform behaviour
• Work with Support and Customer Success to identify root causes
• Join customer or partner calls when deeper technical input is needed
• Help turn recurring customer issues into product or reliability improvements

AI-Assisted Development

We expect engineers to be comfortable using modern AI development tools as part of their workflow.

• Use AI effectively for coding, debugging, research, testing, and development
• Review, understand, and test AI-assisted code before shipping it
• Know when AI-generated solutions should be rewritten or discarded
• Use AI to move faster without sacrificing code quality, maintainability, or sound engineering judgment

Execution & Ownership

• Take ownership of commitments and agreed timelines
• Communicate early when scope or complexity puts a deadline at risk
• Work effectively in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift
• Balance speed, quality, and pragmatism
• Be comfortable moving between roadmap work, production issues, customer needs, and technical debt

What We’re Looking For

• Strong Ruby on Rails experience
• Experience with Vue.js or a similar modern JavaScript framework
• Strong understanding of relational databases, APIs, and web application architecture
• Comfortable troubleshooting production and performance issues
• Familiarity with AWS and cloud infrastructure
• Strong debugging, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable taking ownership of issues through resolution
