SLMCON is seeking a Senior System Analyst to translate warehouse operational needs into practical technology solutions. Working with clients and delivery teams, this role defines requirements and supports the design, implementation, and adoption of warehouse management system solutions.
The ideal candidate combines warehouse and logistics knowledge with strong analytical, technical, and communication skills. They are comfortable collaborating with operational users, management, software teams, and external vendors, and they take ownership of requirements, testing, documentation, training, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead discovery sessions with warehouse staff, logistics teams, and management to clarify operational needs, challenge assumptions, establish priorities, and build alignment on business requirements.
- Gather, analyze, and document functional and technical requirements for warehouse management system solutions.
- Analyze current workflows to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Develop compliant code modifications when necessary to meet business requirements, following applicable development standards, security requirements, and change-control processes.
- Design and configure WMS solutions supporting inventory tracking, receiving, put-away, picking, packing, shipping, and barcode or RFID processes.
- Be a key member in WMS implementations and upgrades from requirements and solution design through deployment and stabilization.
- Define and support integrations between the WMS and ERP, transportation management, order management, and other connected systems.
- Collaborate with software vendors and development teams, providing expertise and guidance, to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and deliver successful integrations.
- Develop test cases and scripts, conduct system and user acceptance testing, document results, and troubleshoot defects before go-live.
- Train warehouse staff and supervisors on system functionality, workflows, and operating procedures.
- Provide ongoing functional and technical support and coordinate the resolution of system-related issues.
- Monitor solution performance and recommend improvements that reduce cost, improve inventory and picking accuracy, and accelerate fulfilment.
- Maintain clear documentation of workflows, requirements, configurations, test results, and procedures, while supporting applicable safety, regulatory, security, and operational standards.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in a System Analyst role and/or working with warehouse management systems.
- Hands-on knowledge of warehouse management system processes, including receiving, put-away, inventory, picking, packing, and shipping.
- Experience with Blue Yonder WMS is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with enterprise systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics and with WMS integrations to ERP, TMS, or OMS platforms.
- Knowledge of enterprise business application architecture, including system components, data flows, integration patterns, security considerations, scalability, and dependencies across interconnected platforms.
- Working knowledge of SQL, Java, Python, JSON, XML, and automation or scripting tools such as PowerShell or Microsoft Power Automate for analysis, troubleshooting, and solution enhancement.
- Understanding of integration methods and technologies, including EDI and APIs.
- Experience developing test cases, supporting system testing and UAT, documenting defects, and validating resolutions.
- Ability to produce clear functional, technical, process, configuration, and user documentation.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to work effectively with warehouse users, business leaders, technical teams, and vendors.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% based on client and project requirements.
- Valid driver’s licence issued in Canada or the United States.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills in fast-paced implementation environments.
