Original job description

Who We Are

At SLMCON, we don’t just consult, we transform. We are a globally distributed, practitioner-led supply chain consultancy focused on solving complex warehouse and automation challenges. Our team blends modern technology, creative thinking, and hands-on delivery to drive measurable outcomes.

We operate at the intersection of technology, operations, and people, helping businesses execute with clarity and impact. Join us for a workplace where innovation, autonomy, and a strong team culture are part of everyday work. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for passionate professionals ready to make their mark.

SLMCON is seeking a System Analyst to translate warehouse operational needs into practical technology solutions. Working with clients and delivery teams, this role defines requirements and supports the design, implementation, and adoption of warehouse management system solutions.

The ideal candidate combines warehouse and logistics knowledge with strong analytical, technical, and communication skills. They are comfortable collaborating with operational users, management, software teams, and external vendors, and they take ownership of requirements, testing, documentation, training, and continuous improvement.

Role Overview

The System Analyst is responsible for analyzing warehouse and logistics processes, gathering functional and technical requirements, and designing and configuring warehouse management system solutions that support efficient receiving, put-away, inventory management, picking, packing, and shipping operations. The role helps ensure that solutions are practical, integrated, well tested, clearly documented, and aligned with client objectives.

The System Analyst collaborates with warehouse and logistics managers, supply chain planners, IT and software development teams, and external vendors and consultants. Success requires structured analysis, sound judgment, adaptability, and clear communication with both technical and operational stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Partner with warehouse staff, logistics teams, and management to understand operational needs and business priorities.
Gather, analyze, and document functional and technical requirements for warehouse management system solutions.
Analyze current workflows to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, risks, and improvement opportunities.
Develop compliant code modifications when necessary to meet business requirements, following applicable development standards, security requirements, and change-control processes.
Design and configure WMS solutions supporting inventory tracking, receiving, put-away, picking, packing, shipping, and barcode or RFID processes.
Support WMS implementations and upgrades from requirements and solution design through deployment and stabilization.
Define and support integrations between the WMS and ERP, transportation management, order management, and other connected systems.
Collaborate with software vendors and development teams to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and deliver successful integrations.
Develop test cases and scripts, conduct system and user acceptance testing, document results, and troubleshoot defects before go-live.
Train warehouse staff and supervisors on system functionality, workflows, and operating procedures.
Provide ongoing functional and technical support and coordinate the resolution of system-related issues.
Monitor solution performance and recommend improvements that reduce cost, improve inventory and picking accuracy, and accelerate fulfilment.
Maintain clear documentation of workflows, requirements, configurations, test results, and procedures, while supporting applicable safety, regulatory, security, and operational standards.

Qualifications

Experience analyzing warehouse, logistics, or supply chain operations and translating business needs into system requirements.
Hands-on knowledge of warehouse management system processes, including receiving, put-away, inventory, picking, packing, and shipping.
Experience with Blue Yonder WMS is strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of SQL, Java, Python, JSON, XML, and automation or scripting tools such as PowerShell or Microsoft Power Automate for analysis, troubleshooting, and solution enhancement.
Understanding of integration methods and technologies, including EDI and APIs.
Experience developing test cases, supporting system testing and UAT, documenting defects, and validating resolutions.
Ability to produce clear functional, technical, process, configuration, and user documentation.
Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to work effectively with warehouse users, business leaders, technical teams, and vendors.
Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% based on client and project requirements.
Valid driver’s licence issued in Canada or the United States.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills in fast-paced implementation environments.

Key Attributes for Success

Analytical Thinking – Breaks down complex operational and technical problems into clear requirements and practical solutions.
Ownership – Follows work from discovery through testing, deployment, support, and continuous improvement.
Clear Communication – Explains requirements, risks, issues, and solutions effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Collaboration – Builds productive working relationships with client teams, users, developers, vendors, and consultants.
Attention to Detail – Produces accurate requirements, configurations, tests, and documentation.
Adaptability – Responds constructively to changing priorities, evolving requirements, and implementation challenges.
Client Orientation – Keeps operational outcomes, usability, and long-term value at the centre of solution decisions.

Why Join Us

At SLMCON, you’ll have the opportunity to work on complex, high-impact supply chain and warehouse transformation initiatives alongside a team of experienced practitioners who understand both technology and operations.

We are a growing global consultancy where your ideas, expertise, and contributions directly influence client outcomes and the evolution of our business. Our environment is collaborative, entrepreneurial, and built for professionals who thrive on solving challenging problems and delivering meaningful results.

What sets us apart

Impact-Driven Work – Work on large-scale warehouse, automation, and supply chain transformation projects that create measurable operational value for clients.
Practitioner-Led Culture – Collaborate with experienced industry experts who bring deep real-world implementation knowledge and a hands-on approach to delivery.
Autonomy and Trust – We value ownership, initiative, and independent thinking. Team members are empowered to lead, innovate, and make decisions.
Global Collaboration – Partner with colleagues and clients across North America and international markets in a highly collaborative environment.
Growth and Exposure – Gain exposure to complex enterprise environments, modern supply chain technologies, and strategic client engagements.
Innovation-Focused – We embrace modern tools, evolving technologies, and continuous improvement in how we solve problems and deliver value.
Flexible Work Environment – Hybrid and remote flexibility designed to support both collaboration and work-life balance.

At SLMCON, you won’t just support implementations; rather, you’ll help shape the future of supply chain operations and technology for global organizations.
