Role: Senior Terraform Consultant
Location: Toronto, ON
Duration: Long Term Contract
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain reusable Terraform modules for provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure.
- Automate infrastructure deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management using Terraform.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code solutions across AWS, Azure, or GCP environments.
- Develop and maintain Terraform configurations, providers, state files, workspaces, and remote backends.
- Integrate Terraform with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
- Implement infrastructure provisioning standards, version control, code reviews, and deployment best practices.
- Manage Terraform state, state locking, drift detection, and infrastructure change management.
- Implement cloud security best practices, IAM/RBAC, secrets management, and policy-as-code.
- Troubleshoot complex Terraform deployment issues and resolve infrastructure provisioning failures.
- Collaborate with DevOps, Cloud, Security, and Platform Engineering teams to deliver reliable infrastructure solutions.
- Optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, availability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on Terraform and IaC best practices.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
- Expertise in developing reusable Terraform modules and managing complex infrastructure deployments.
- Strong experience with at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Microsoft Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with Terraform state management, remote backends, state locking, workspaces, and import operations.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Experience with Git and version control workflows.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipeline automation.
- Knowledge of networking, VPC/VNet, subnets, routing, load balancers, DNS, IAM, and security groups.
- Experience with Linux administration and cloud infrastructure troubleshooting.
- Understanding of cloud security, infrastructure compliance, and secrets management.
