- Prepare structural packages for review and final sign-off by the Structural Engineering Manager.
- Review drafters' and designers' work for accuracy and constructability before it goes out.
- Work directly with customers and their engineers of record to understand site constraints
- Own the RFI process during construction for projects
- Be the technical escalation point for install crews on projects
What You Bring:
- Professional Engineer (PE/P.Eng.) license in the structural discipline, or actively pursuing professional licensure.
- 7+ years of structural engineering experience, including direct, hands-on experience with steel building or structural steel erection.
- Demonstrated experience performing structural calculations for real-world, built projects.
- Experience with structural steel design, connections, and practical construction considerations.
- Project management experience, with the ability to own a technical workstream from initial design through construction and project close-out.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working with engineers of record (EORs), responding to structural review comments, and managing construction administration activities, including RFIs, submittals, and field changes.
- The ability to balance independent technical ownership with close collaboration and shared engineering decision-making.
- A practical, solutions-oriented mindset and a strong understanding of how engineering decisions translate into fabrication and field installation.
Preferred:
- Direct experience with solar carports, solar canopies, ground-mount racking systems, or similar steel structures.
- Familiarity with structural design codes and standards, including ASCE 7, IBC, and regional equivalents such as NBC and OBC.
- Experience designing for wind, snow, and seismic loading conditions.
- Experience coordinating with geotechnical engineers and foundation contractors on non-standard sites, including landfills and sites with variable soil conditions.
- Familiarity with steel fabrication processes, erection methods, and construction sequencing.
