SMS Equipment is seeking an experienced Service Manager to plan, organize and direct the service operations of Welding and Mechanical Services. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role leads the installation, maintenance and repair of parts and equipment while driving results, customer satisfaction, safety and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will be based in Timmins, ON, with relocation assistance considered based on their current location, and should be comfortable with occasional travel and active participation in community events connected to the branch.
Working closely with branch leadership, service supervisors, parts, accounting, manufacturers, customers and employees, you will develop workload plans, improve service processes, strengthen customer relationships and support the operational and financial performance of the branch.
Work Location: Timmins, ON
Salary Range: $130,000 - $140,000 per year, plus regional premium and incentive plan
Work Arrangement: On-Site
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 hours per day
Travel: Occasional/infrequent travel may be required, averaging approximately one overnight trip per quarter.
Relocation assistance may be provided based on the successful candidate’s current location.
What You'll Do
- Lead all activities related to Welding and Mechanical Services operations involving the installation, maintenance and repair of parts and equipment.
- Create, monitor and implement service scheduling and workload plans to support business objectives and maximize productivity.
- Oversee service work orders, Work in Progress, accounts receivable follow-up, RAMP agreements and warranty administration.
- Develop and maintain effective customer relationships and ensure timely resolution of product support, service and warranty issues.
- Lead, coach, train and develop service employees and supervisors while communicating goals, measuring results and supporting performance improvement.
- Monitor bottom-line results, productivity, budgets and service metrics, and adjust operating plans as required.
- Identify and improve service work processes, operating procedures, quality systems and data accuracy.
- Support service business growth, lifecycle revenue programs and participation in relevant industry and mining events.
- Ensure department activities comply with safety, health and environmental standards, company policies and applicable legislation.
What You Bring
You are an experienced service operations leader with strong technical knowledge, sound financial judgment and the ability to lead teams in a heavy equipment or industrial environment. You build trusted customer relationships, improve operating performance and maintain a strong commitment to safety.
Additional qualifications include:
- Post-secondary education with 5-7 years of related industry experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a heavy-duty or industrial environment.
- Comprehensive service operations knowledge, including work scheduling, work orders, WIP, accounts receivable, warranty, budgeting, customer support and labour relations.
Nice to Haves:
- Knowledge of Komatsu products or comparable heavy equipment product lines.
- Experience with parts distribution, service revenue programs, quality systems, equipment lifecycle support or unionized environments.
