The Opportunity

Are you a passionate early childhood professional who believes in the power of play, inquiry, and community? We are looking for an Early Learning Specialist who brings energy, expertise, and heart to every interaction - with children, families, and colleagues alike. In this role, you will design and deliver exceptional programs across multiple settings - indoors, outdoors in all four seasons, and virtually - guided by the principles of How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH). You will be a trusted presence for families navigating early childhood, connecting them to resources, supporting developmental screenings, and building relationships that last. This is a role for someone who is curious, adaptable, and committed - someone who sees every program as an opportunity to make a real difference in a child's life.

Key Job Responsibilities

Program Delivery

  • Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry-based programs grounded in the four foundations of HDLH - indoors, outdoors (four seasons), and virtually
  • Adapt programs in real time to meet the changing needs of participants and families
  • Use observation and documentation purposefully to guide planning and reflect learning
  • Deliver specialized programs and services, meeting established KPIs and outcomes

Family & Community Engagement

  • Build stable, trusting relationships with children, families, and caregivers
  • Identify developmental concerns and connect families to appropriate referral supports and screenings (e.g. ERIK, NDIS)
  • Provide referral follow-up and case management support as needed
  • Collaborate actively with community partners to strengthen service delivery

Team & Professional Practice

  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive team culture built on respect and strong relationships
  • Share knowledge and learnings with colleagues in a clear, professional manner
  • Identify and introduce strategies that improve program efficiency and processes
  • Mentor students and support emerging professionals as opportunities arise
  • Pursue ongoing professional development - internal and external - and apply new learning to practice

Candidate Profile:

Qualifications

  • Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in good standing with the College of ECE
  • Solid understanding of inquiry-based, emergent curriculum and HDLH in practice
  • Experience delivering indoor, outdoor, and virtual programming across a variety of formats
  • Familiarity with specialized programs and services in an early years context
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, and community resources
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Screening

What You Bring

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Comfort with technology tools and platforms, including video creation and virtual delivery
  • Sound judgment, problem-solving ability, and the confidence to work independently
  • A collaborative spirit and genuine commitment to customer service excellence
  • Openness to feedback, learning, and continuous improvement

Work Conditions

  • Flexible availability including evenings and weekends
  • Programs are delivered across multiple locations in York Region. Candidates must have reliable personal transportation and be flexible with scheduling, including working at different locations and shifts based on program needs.
  • Physical activity including walking, standing, lifting, and supporting children
  • Potential exposure to infectious illness in a child and family program environment

Interested candidates should apply by October 20, 2026. We thank all candidates for their interest, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
