Original job description

Socomec Group (Socomec) is a global leader in electrical equipment engineering and manufacturing, specialized in low voltage energy performance.

Socomec North America (NAM) is Socomec’s organization overseeing all operations in North America.

About This Role

This role requires a strong understanding of the power/electrical industry and the realities of complex engineering projects, including project timelines, technical dependencies, resource constraints, and cross-functional coordination. The PMD must also bring strong people leadership and project management experience to create structure around engineering teams, remove obstacles, and allow technical leaders to stay focused on engineering and delivery.

The Project Management Director (PMD) ensures consistent, transparent, and disciplined execution of all projects across Socomec PCO North America. This includes both product development and operational initiatives, ensuring that schedules, budgets, risks, and deliverables remain aligned with business priorities and approved baselines.

The PMD ensures that multi-functional and multi-location teams operate under a unified governance framework, with clearly defined interfaces, expectations, and accountability.

At the strategic level, the role ensures schedule predictability, cost control, and risk visibility across the portfolio - providing management with the insight required to make informed and timely business decisions.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, quality control, and external vendors. Ensures that resource assignments, time estimates, and major milestone activities are agreed upon.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a multidisciplinary project team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Effectively communicate project objectives, expectations, and updates to team members and stakeholders.

Risk Management

  • Ensures that projects maintain an active risk and issue register, that mitigation and containment plans are documented, and that escalation occurs promptly whenever delivery or budget objectives are at risk.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, clients, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Provide regular project updates and reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Ensures accurate, live visibility of project and portfolio status, enabling stakeholders to access progress, risks, and resource utilization through the business intelligence environment without the need for manual reporting.

  • Develop and manage project budgets
  • Control expenditures, and take appropriate measures to ensure that the overall business plan is achieved

Quality Assurance

  • Ensures that all project management activities align with the Quality Management System and that documentation supports internal and external audits.
