Technical Sales Engineer

Location: Georgetown, Ontario (Hybrid: three days in the office and two days working from home each week)

Reporting to: Director of Sales

Put your technical expertise to work on environmental challenges that matter. Solinst Canada Ltd is looking for a Technical Sales Engineer who can turn complex monitoring needs into practical, high-value solutions. You will help customers and distributors confidently select and apply trusted groundwater and surface water instrumentation; combining technical insight, commercial initiative, and strong relationship-building to deliver results and contribute to the growth of a respected Canadian manufacturer with global reach.

The Role

Based in our Georgetown, Ontario office, this hybrid position offers the opportunity to become a trusted technical partner to customers and channel partners. You will uncover monitoring needs, recommend the right solutions, advance opportunities from initial enquiry through order, and help users achieve successful outcomes in the field. It is an ideal role for someone who enjoys solving problems, engaging with customers, and turning technical knowledge into commercial success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify new sales opportunities, develop new customers and grow existing accounts through regular contact, prospecting and follow-up. Take opportunities through to an order and work toward agreed sales targets.
  • Be a trusted technical resource for customers and distributors, providing responsive support by phone, email, virtual meetings, and in-person discussions across the Solinst Group product range
  • Explore customer monitoring objectives and site conditions, then translate them into effective instrumentation recommendations and practical solutions
  • Build momentum on sales opportunities by preparing accurate quotations, following up on enquiries and proposals, and guiding customers through the order process
  • Strengthen customer relationships through product training, application guidance, opportunity support, and proactive communication
  • Keep opportunities moving by maintaining accurate, timely CRM records for customer interactions, leads, quotations, and follow-up activities
  • Build customer confidence by delivering engaging technical presentations, webinars, demonstrations, and training sessions
  • Bring the voice of the customer into product testing, technical documentation, and product development initiatives
  • Represent Solinst with confidence at trade shows, customer visits, and training events; occasional international travel may be required

What You Bring

  • At least three years of experience in technical sales, applications support, environmental monitoring, scientific instrumentation, or a related role with an interest in building a career in sales.
  • The curiosity and technical aptitude to understand complex challenges and turn them into clear, practical recommendations
  • Confidence troubleshooting software, data files, and Windows-based applications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build credibility with technical and commercial audiences
  • A proactive, customer-focused approach and the drive to take ownership of opportunities
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and disciplined CRM and opportunity management
  • A university degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Hydrogeology, Hydrology, or a related field

Preferred Assets

  • Field experience with environmental monitoring equipment or instrumentation
  • French or Spanish language proficiency

Compensation: $80,000 to $100,000 CDN, together with a comprehensive benefits plan.
