Position Summary
The General Labourer supports daily site operations by performing a variety of manual labour tasks in industrial and manufacturing environments. This role plays a key part in maintaining safe, clean, and efficient job sites while supporting skilled trades, supervisors, and operational teams in Sudbury-based projects.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Support
- Assist supervisors and skilled trades with daily job site activities
- Perform general labour duties including material handling, site preparation, and cleanup
- Load, unload, and transport tools, equipment, and materials
- Prepare work areas and ensure readiness for operational tasks
- Support industrial maintenance, refractory, and shutdown activities as required
Health & Safety
- Follow all Soluroc safety policies, procedures, and site-specific rules
- Properly use required PPE at all times
- Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions
- Report hazards, near misses, incidents, and unsafe conditions immediately
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment
Teamwork & Reliability
- Work collaboratively with crew members and supervisors
- Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic
- Adapt to changing work assignments and site conditions
- Perform other duties as assigned to support operational needs
Qualifications & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Potential Field Work to our customer sites
- Previous experience in construction, industrial, or labour-intensive environments an asset
- Fabrication shop experience is considered a strong asset
- Ability to perform physically demanding work (lifting, bending, standing for long periods)
- Willingness to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and industrial conditions
- Strong awareness of safety practices and willingness to follow instructions
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation an asset
