The opportunity
We welcome expressions of interest from early-career investment professionals seeking future Associate Portfolio Manager opportunities across Sonance Financial’s Partner Groups. This is an ongoing talent pool, not an advertisement for a specific current vacancy.
This is a development-focused role supporting senior portfolio managers and investment leaders. You would contribute to research, portfolio analysis, reporting and advisor support while building your investment knowledge and judgment. The role does not assume independent discretionary authority, responsibility for leading an investment platform or unsupervised client advice. Responsibilities will reflect your experience, registration status and the requirements of the employing entity.
What you could contribute
- Research investment funds, ETFs, managers and market developments, documenting findings for senior review.
- Assist with portfolio performance, allocation, exposure and risk analysis.
- Prepare portfolio-review materials, reports, presentations and draft market commentary.
- Support manager due diligence and monitoring of approved investment strategies.
- Help maintain investment research records, portfolio data and investment-policy documentation.
- Assist senior colleagues with implementation and rebalancing analysis, with any trading subject to appropriate authorization and review.
- Join advisor or client meetings alongside senior colleagues and support accurate follow-up.
- Coordinate with investment operations, compliance and advisory teams, escalating questions or discrepancies.
What you bring
- A degree in finance, economics, business or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant education and experience.
- Early-career experience in investment research, portfolio analysis, wealth management or investment operations; strong internship or co-op experience will also be considered.
- A foundation in financial markets, asset allocation and investment analysis.
- Strong Excel, analytical, written-communication and organizational skills.
- Progress toward the CFA designation, CIM or another relevant qualification is an asset.
- Curiosity, attention to detail, professional integrity and a willingness to learn.
- Willingness to work toward role-appropriate qualifications; any required registration must be confirmed before regulated responsibilities are assigned.
Express your interest
Please submit your résumé and a short note describing your investment interests, relevant analytical experience, preferred location and professional-study progress. Use only non-confidential examples when describing previous work.
