Original job description
SonoHL is a Canadian MedTech company increasing access to cardiac auscultations. Through our HALD system patients can receive clinical grade monitoring and diagnostics without the need to travel to specialized clinics. We are looking for a mechanical engineering intern to help move our system forward.
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in the 3rd or 4th year of a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline. Recent graduates may also apply.
- Experience with data analysis using Python, MATLAB, Excel, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks or comparable software) or 3D printing.
- Experience designing or assembling experimental setups, test fixtures, or prototypes.
- Comfortable working with prototypes and performing hands-on mechanical assembly and testing.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with signal processing, including frequency analysis, amplitude measurements, and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).
- Experience with experimental repeatability/reproducibility, measurement uncertainty, or statistical analysis.
- Experience with laboratory instrumentation, data acquisition, or measurement systems.
- Previous experience with biomedical instrumentation or medical device development.
- Experience with acoustic measurements or other audio systems.
- Experience with CNC machining.
Key tasks/responsibilities:
- Define test bench requirements and identify the necessary equipment, instrumentation, and software.
- Design, assemble, and troubleshoot a test setup capable of producing controlled and repeatable acoustic measurements.
- Conduct experiments, collect data, and analyze results using appropriate engineering tools.
- Evaluate relevant performance metrics, such as frequency response, signal amplitude, noise floor, and signal-to-noise ratio.
- Prepare test documentation, including test plans, procedures, experimental conditions, results, conclusions, and supporting evidence.
