Original job description
Create memorable experiences. Build lasting business.
Sooke Harbour House is seeking an organized, commercially minded Events and Sales Manager to grow our weddings, corporate retreats, private dining and group business while delivering thoughtful, personalized event experiences.
Our intimate, 28-room coastal property brings together ocean-view accommodation, distinctive event spaces and a culinary program led by Executive Chef Leroy. You will own the sales and event journey - from the first enquiry and property tour through contracting, planning, execution and follow-up.
Your responsibilities
Sales and business development
Generate new business through outreach to corporate clients, meeting planners, wedding planners and industry partners.
Build shoulder-season and winter demand through retreats, meetings, private events and group stays.
Respond promptly to enquiries, prepare tailored proposals and convert opportunities into confirmed bookings.
Conduct site tours and negotiate within approved pricing guidelines.
Maintain an accurate sales pipeline, activity records and revenue forecasts.
Collaborate with the General Manager and marketing partners on seasonal promotions and event offerings.
Event planning and delivery
Manage weddings, corporate retreats, private dining, celebrations and property buyouts.
Prepare contracts, banquet event orders, timelines, room-block details and vendor requirements.
Lead planning meetings and communicate arrangements and changes across departments.
Coordinate with Culinary, Food & Beverage, Rooms and external suppliers.
Provide on-site client support during key event moments and ensure clear operational handovers.
Gather feedback and develop repeat business and referrals.
Financial accountability
Track deposits, payment schedules and outstanding balances with Finance.
Follow event billing and reconciliation procedures through final settlement.
Maintain accurate records in Event Temple and coordinate accommodation requirements through Cloudbeds.
Support profitable pricing, forecasting and timely reporting.
Grow room, food and beverage, and ancillary revenue while protecting the guest experience.
Compensation and bonus opportunity
The position offers a $60,000–$65,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for a quarterly performance bonus under the final approved leadership bonus plan.
Eligible upsells must be delivered and collected above the original contracted value. Payments are subject to the full plan terms, applicable compliance requirements, and Finance and ownership approval following quarter-end. Bonuses are not guaranteed.
What you bring
Ideally three or more years of experience in hotel sales, catering sales, event management or related hospitality work.
Demonstrated success converting enquiries and developing new business.
Experience coordinating weddings, corporate meetings or multi-day group programs.
Strong organization and attention to detail across multiple active files.
Clear communication and a warm, professional approach.
Confidence working with contracts, budgets, forecasts and payment schedules.
Event Temple, Cloudbeds or comparable system experience is an asset.
Availability for evenings and weekends according to event requirements.
Ability to work on-site in Sooke, British Columbia.
Why join us?
Take ownership of a varied sales and events portfolio at a distinctive coastal hotel. Work directly with the General Manager and culinary and operational leaders, help shape new offerings, and see your work translate into memorable experiences and measurable business results.
