Overview
Lead daily laboratory and quality control operations for an industrial materials environment, ensuring chemical and physical testing is accurate, timely and compliant with technical specifications, regulatory standards and customer requirements.
This role combines laboratory leadership, materials quality, testing, equipment management and operational coordination across aggregates and cement production.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily laboratory operations, including personnel scheduling across shifts, holidays and overtime.
- Supervise and perform chemical and physical testing of aggregates, cement and related materials.
- Ensure products consistently meet technical specifications, regulatory requirements and plant quality targets.
- Review and validate quality testing results and reports before distribution to customers.
- Monitor testing accuracy, reporting timelines and laboratory quality standards.
- Oversee calibration, maintenance and service schedules for laboratory equipment.
- Review daily blast results and monitor stockpile inventory to support customer demand.
- Partner with production and maintenance teams to optimize plant availability and operational throughput.
- Support site management with technical requirements for bids, special projects and customer requirements.
- Maintain strong working relationships with customers and respond to quality-related requirements.
- Communicate laboratory results, operational issues and quality trends to site leadership.
- Apply data analysis and reporting to support quality and operational decision-making.
- Maintain compliance with corporate health, safety and environmental standards.
- Promote a strong culture of laboratory safety, quality and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a laboratory or quality-controlled industrial environment.
- Previous Quality Control experience in materials, aggregates, cement or a related industry.
- Strong understanding of material properties and geochemistry.
- Experience supervising laboratory or quality control operations.
- Technical proficiency in data analysis, quality reporting and laboratory equipment maintenance.
- Strong organizational skills with experience managing personnel schedules and multiple priorities.
- Strong communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and SAP.
- Ability to work in an industrial/site environment and comply with applicable PPE and safety requirements.
- Willingness to travel occasionally, less than 5%.
