Original job description

SOTI is committed to providing its employees with endless possibilities; learning new things, working with the latest technologies and making a difference in the world.

Job Title: Software Developer

Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada

Work Model: Hybrid

Who We Are:

At SOTI, we are committed to delivering best-in-class mobile and IoT device management solutions. We are looking for unconventional thinkers who appreciate the art of creating great software.

To us, being visionary is more important than doing things the way they’ve always been done.

What We’re Looking For

Working as an Android Developer on the Android XTreme team is a challenging and highly engaging role. Developers solve complex problems across a broad range of Android devices, manufacturers, OS versions, and enterprise deployment models while contributing to SOTI MobiControl, SOTI’s flagship Enterprise Mobility Management solution. The work demands strong Android fundamentals, thoughtful system design, careful debugging, and close attention to security, performance, reliability, and backward compatibility. Because MobiControl helps organizations deploy applications, manage content, protect business data, and support devices throughout their lifecycle, every feature must perform consistently in demanding, real-world environments.

What makes the role especially interesting is its direct impact on customers who depend on Android devices for critical operations in retail, logistics, healthcare, field services, and other industries. Developers collaborate with product, quality, support, security, and device-partner teams to turn evolving Android capabilities into practical enterprise features, including enrollment, application management, kiosk and lockdown experiences, remote support, and device security. The combination of technical depth, large-scale product impact, and continuous learning makes the Android XTreme team an excellent environment for developers who enjoy building robust solutions and tackling problems that rarely have a one-size-fits-all answer.

What’s in it for you?

The People - From our humble origins in our founder’s basement to our industry-leading position today, SOTI has worked hard to foster a company culture that we can all believe in. A culture that emphasizes personal growth, continuous innovation and fun.

The Growth - Our environment fosters new ideas, fresh perspectives, and the ability to take them over the goal line. SOTI is a fast-paced environment with a global reach that encourages you to make your mark and be part of something big!

The Technology - You’ll get the chance to take on complex and interesting projects, as part of highly collaborative and agile teams. You will work alongside SOTI’s partners which include leading tech giants that will keep you on the cusp of emerging technologies.

What You’ll Do

Develop innovative solutions to tackle big industry problems
Write well designed, scalable, reliable, testable and reusable code by using best software development practices, clean code and solid principles
Contribute towards the entire development lifecycle of analysis, design, implementation and test
Detect, report, investigate, and fix product defects
Automation, including writing unit and integration tests
Optimize and apply best practices
Maintain high standards of quality for code, technical documentation, and deliverables
Participate in brainstorming and idea generation activities
Stay up-to-date with advanced technologies in order to be able to provide the best solutions for new projects

Experience You’ll Bring

Excellent math and logical thinking, ability to understand the logic behind Computer Science and the relationships within programs themselves
Strong education in Computer Science/Math is preferred
A minimum of 2-3 years of related industry experience working in software development environments
A minimum of 2 years of Android application development experience
A minimum of 2 years Java or Kotlin experience
Solid understanding of Data Structure, Algorithms and Object-Oriented Design
Expert knowledge of used operating systems (Android, Linux)
Expert knowledge of Android and others commonly used development tools (Gradle, Git, Gerrit, etc.)
Experience in software architecture/design/best development practices
Experience (or strong interest) in agile methods such as Scrum/XP, Behavior Driven Development, and Continuous Delivery
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills

Nice to have:

Strong background and experience with C# and .NET platform
Experience developing Server-Client applications
Linux applications development experience
