Original job description

Two things will set you up to do well here:

You know growing. You're an (ex-)grower, or you've worked closely with growers at a vendor, breeder, or supplier. You understand how a greenhouse runs and can talk with growers as someone who knows their world.
You're near Leamington, Ontario. You live there or within a few hours' drive. You'll be on-site with growers more than half your week, so living close by makes the role a lot easier.

💪 If that sounds like you, read on.

About The Role

This is a forward-deployed role: you spend real time with our growers, in their greenhouses and their offices, and you own the gap between the software we build and the outcome a grower actually needs. You're responsible for having growers rely on our products to run their business.

About Source

At Source.ag, we're on a mission to power a sustainable future by leveraging cutting-edge AI in greenhouse technology to deliver more fresh produce to the world. Our values drive everything we do to support this mission; they shape how we work, collaborate, and achieve our goals:

🧑‍🌾 All In for our Growers: We work closely with growers, prioritizing their needs.

🌈 Strength through Diversity: We embrace different perspectives and backgrounds, fostering a culture of mutual respect, inclusion, and collaboration.

🌟 Learn–Adapt–Succeed: We grow through continuous feedback, learning, and dedication.

🚀 Driven to Deliver: We are dedicated to delivering impactful results.

🌱 Plant Solutions: We plant solutions that shape the future of food production.

Our approach

We're a team that gives people ownership early and moves fast from idea to impact. The people who thrive here love solving hard customer problems, bring a growth mindset that's always eager to learn, and don't mind rolling up their sleeves for operational work or jumping in wherever the team needs a hand.

You'll love it here if you:

Enjoy taking ownership and seeing your ideas come to life
Like working at pace, where things move fast from idea to impact
Are endlessly curious: always seeking feedback and unafraid to give it to anyone when it helps the work move forward
Get energy from a driven, supportive team

You might prefer somewhere else if you:

Are looking for a slower, more predictable pace
Prefer roles where the scope stays fixed and clearly defined
Prefer working fixed hours and a set schedule

What you'll do

Solving grower problems as an embedded operator:

Spend significant time on-site (more than 50% of your week), diagnosing problems in the grower's operation and data, not only in the product.
Speak the grower's language and earn trust in the greenhouse by consistently delivering on your promises.
Solve first through Source's existing products; where they fall short, build lightweight custom solutions, dashboards, scripts, or simple tools as a temporary bridge until Product can productize it.
Use modern AI tools (such as Claude) to build faster and automate the repetitive parts of your work.
Provide fast, high-quality support that resolves issues before they erode confidence.

Driving adoption and value in the greenhouse:

Act as the customer expert: understand each grower's crop strategy, operational reality, and success criteria, and tailor Source to them.
Own the onboarding journey so growers reach value quickly and keep gaining it every crop cycle.
Connect Source's forecasts, crop plans, and autonomous tools to the real decisions a grower makes each week.
Track adoption and value metrics and step in early when adoption slips.
Grow and support customer champions, and feed grower-level insights and expansion to the rest of the organization.

Turning greenhouse insights into a better product:

Capture grower pain points and translate them into clear, prioritized feedback for Product.
Co-develop and prototype solutions together with growers, so what we build reflects how they actually work.

Scaling yourself and the team:

Automate repeat journeys (onboarding nudges, health checks, reporting) so your time goes to the work that matters.
Build dashboards and tools to monitor adoption and value across your portfolio.
Keep raising your own productivity as tools evolve, and document what works so the whole team can compound

This role reports to the General Manager, North America.

The essentials:

Deep growing and greenhouse knowledge: As an (ex-)grower or someone in a grower-facing technical role at a vendor, breeder, or supplier. This is the foundation of the role.
Based in the Leamington, Ontario area: You live there or within a few hours' drive max, and you're comfortable on the road more than 50% of the time across North American customer sites.
Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in the industry.

Everything else that makes you a fit:

Strong analytical and data-driven mindset: Comfortable with data, KPIs, and analytics. Not afraid to run a few data queries or quickly build some pivot tables.
Already a hands-on builder: You build things yourself today (scripts, dashboards, spreadsheets turned into tools, or other practical solutions). It doesn't have to be AI-based, and you don't need a formal software or engineering background, but you're technical enough to build and eager to use AI tools to build more.
Adaptable, not dogmatic: You hold strong opinions loosely and adjust to each grower's reality instead of imposing a single method. You win growers over; you don't lecture them.
Deeply customer-obsessed, with an ownership mindset: If something is broken for the grower, you feel it, and you fix it.
Extreme curiosity and continuously questioning the status quo: Never done learning, and eager to adopt new tools early to 2x personal productivity every six months.
Excellent communicator and relationship builder who thrives in grower-facing interactions.

Our interview process

We keep it personal and open, so you always know what to expect. And it goes both ways: every step is your chance to ask questions and see if Source is right for you.

First interview (30 min, online) - A chat with our People & Culture team to get to know each other and see if there's a good fit from both sides.
Second interview (45 to 60 min, online) - A deeper talk with the hiring manager about the team you'd join and how you'd fit in.
Third interview (60 to 90 min, usually in person) - Often a follow-up on a take-home assignment, plus a chance to meet a few people from Source.
Final interview (with one of our founders) - A conversation about Source's mission and how you'd fit into the bigger picture.

A note on AI: During your interviews, we use an AI note-taker, so we can be fully present with you rather than typing. There is no video recording. If you'd rather we didn't, just let us know during the interview.

Our offer in return for your talent and skills

To reward your contributions, we offer you:

Mental well-being guidance through Open Up
Extended maternity leave
Macbook
Curiosity and learning sessions
Travel allowance for office commute
Annual learning budget of €1,000
Work-from-home budget of €550
Monthly wifi and phone plan reimbursement
Unlimited holidays, and we expect you to take at least 25 per year

🌱 Ready to grow with us?

At Source, we highly value diversity of backgrounds and thoughts. Research has shown that people make different internal assessments of whether they are a good fit for the job. We encourage you to apply for this job, even if you feel you might not tick all the boxes!

Note to recruitment agencies: We do not appreciate unsolicited outreach or external acquisition regarding our open roles. Please refrain from contacting us about these vacancies. Thank you.
