This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership of recruitment while gaining hands-on experience across a broad range of HR functions. From helping us attract and hire great people to supporting employee relations, onboarding, performance management, and workplace initiatives, you'll play an important role in creating a positive and consistent employee experience.
If you're organized, resourceful, people-focused, and enjoy working in an environment where no two days are quite the same, we'd love to hear from you.
Who We Are
For over 40 years, Source Office Furniture & Systems Ltd. has been helping businesses across Canada create functional, inspiring workspaces by offering quality office furniture, exceptional value, and outstanding customer service.
We're a growing Canadian company with locations across the country, and we believe our success starts with our people. We value teamwork, accountability, and a willingness to roll up our sleeves to get things done.
Our HR team plays an important role in supporting our employees, developing our leaders, and building the people practices that help our business grow.
Why You'll Love Working Here
- Variety and opportunity: Gain exposure to multiple areas of HR, from recruitment and employee relations to compliance, performance management, and employee engagement.
- Make a real impact: Your work will directly support our ability to attract, develop, and retain great employees.
- Supportive leadership: Work closely with an experienced HR Director who values collaboration, initiative, and professional development.
- A growing business: Be part of an established Canadian company where you'll support multiple locations and collaborate with teams across Canada and the U.S.
- A people-focused workplace: Join a team that values relationships, teamwork, accountability, and having some fun along the way.
- Competitive annual salary of $70,000-$80,000
- Company-paid health and dental benefit premiums following successful completion of a three-month probationary period
- $250 Health Spending Account
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
- Employee discounts on our products
- Opportunities to expand your HR knowledge and skills through hands-on experience and mentorship
- A collaborative and welcoming team environment
You'll report directly to the HR Director and work from our Burnaby headquarters, supporting Source locations across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario. You'll also provide HR support to our partner company, Performance Furnishings, and collaborate with our U.S.-based HR Generalist supporting N9NE Furniture Group.
- Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
- Manage the full recruitment cycle, from developing job postings and advertising opportunities through our HRIS to screening candidates, coordinating and conducting interviews, and supporting hiring decisions.
- Partner with hiring managers to understand their staffing needs and identify strong candidates.
- Conduct compensation research and market analysis to support competitive hiring decisions.
- Help create a positive, professional candidate experience throughout the recruitment process.
- Onboarding & Employee Development
- Coordinate the onboarding process, including preparing employment contracts and extensions, managing employee documentation, and working with managers, IT, and Payroll.
- Conduct new-hire check-ins and identify opportunities to improve the onboarding experience.
- Support employee development, career progression, and retention initiatives.
- Assist managers with the annual performance review process.
- HR Operations & Reporting
- Maintain confidential and accurate employee records within our Humi HRIS.
- Prepare and analyze HR reports covering headcount, turnover, attendance, recruitment, and other key people metrics.
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, reporting, and administrative efficiency.
- Provide general HR administrative support to employees and managers across our locations.
- Employee & Labour Relations
- Respond to employee questions and concerns, helping foster a respectful and positive workplace.
- Support managers with employee relations matters, workplace coaching, and the interpretation and application of company policies.
- Assist with labour relations matters, including grievance support and collective bargaining preparation, as required.
- HR Compliance, Policies & Training
- Support compliance with applicable employment legislation and HR best practices across our Canadian locations.
- Assist with the administration, communication, and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and track required employee training, policy acknowledgements, and related documentation.
- Stay informed about evolving employment standards and HR practices.
- Workplace Health & Safety
- Assist with workplace injury reporting, WorkSafe documentation, and return-to-work coordination.
- Provide administrative and coordination support for workplace health and safety programs across our Canadian locations.
- Help ensure required health and safety documentation and training records are maintained.

- Participate in our Social Committee and help plan employee events, team-building activities, and engagement initiatives, including budgets, logistics, and communications.
- Coordinate monthly corporate team lunches.
- Manage company-wide birthday and work anniversary communications for Source Office Furniture and Performance Furnishings employees.
- Bring forward ideas that help employees feel connected, recognized, and valued.
