Business Intelligence Analyst

Roles and Responsibilities

• Collect, analyze, and interpret business data from multiple sources.
• Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI or Tableau.
• Write SQL queries to extract, retrieve, and manipulate data from databases.
• Perform data cleaning, validation, transformation, and quality checks.
• Analyze business trends, patterns, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly business performance reports.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements.
• Identify business opportunities and provide data-driven recommendations.
• Create visual reports and dashboards to communicate analytical findings.
• Monitor business metrics and track performance against organizational goals.
• Perform ad-hoc data analysis and generate meaningful insights.
• Maintain documentation of reports, dashboards, and data sources.
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across reporting systems.

Technical Skills Required

SQL and Database Management

• Basic to intermediate SQL knowledge.
• SELECT, WHERE, GROUP BY, ORDER BY, JOIN, and subqueries.
• Aggregate functions and filtering techniques.
• Basic understanding of relational databases.
• Knowledge of MySQL, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.

Data Visualization Tools

• Microsoft Power BI.
• Tableau.
• Dashboard development and report creation.
• Data visualization and storytelling.
• Basic knowledge of DAX and Power Query.

Microsoft Excel

• VLOOKUP / XLOOKUP.
• Pivot Tables and Pivot Charts.
• IF, SUMIF, COUNTIF, and other formulas.
• Data cleaning and formatting.
• Conditional formatting.

Data Analysis

• Data cleaning and transformation.
• Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA).
• Trend and pattern identification.
• KPI monitoring and performance analysis.
• Basic statistical concepts.

Additional Skills

• Basic Python knowledge (Pandas and NumPy) is an advantage.
• Understanding of ETL processes.
• Basic knowledge of data warehousing.
• Understanding of business reporting and analytics.
