Original job description

Specified is an established, well-respected building envelope contractor delivering commercial and institutional roofing, cladding and waterproofing projects across Ontario. As part of our continued growth, we are hiring a Site Supervisor to oversee our production roofing crews on commercial projects across the GTA.

This is a field-focused leadership role inside a stable, growing company: you will plan and direct the daily activities of multiple crews, keep projects safe, on schedule and on budget, and be the link between the foremen, the project manager and the client on site.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Site Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing and overseeing the daily progress of multiple production roofing crews. The role requires strong practical knowledge of commercial flat roofing, the ability to read drawings and specifications, and the confidence to lead foremen and crews while communicating professionally with clients, consultants and general contractors. You will be equally comfortable walking a roof to check workmanship, coordinating equipment and material deliveries, and keeping all stakeholders informed of issues and delays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate daily with foremen and the project manager to confirm production expectations are achievable and monitor progress
  • Ensure all roofing operations comply with company health and safety policies and site-specific requirements, and address unsafe conditions promptly
  • Attend project handoff meetings with all stakeholders to advise on labour requirements and project challenges
  • Coordinate job site setup, project plan layout and site logistics
  • Proactively determine equipment needs on site and coordinate delivery
  • Communicate material orders and delivery times with all involved stakeholders
  • Review workmanship and confirm work follows project specifications, manufacturer requirements and company standards
  • Ensure with each foreman that deficiencies are identified and corrected on an ongoing basis
  • Identify potential extras to the contract and inform the project manager
  • Monitor productivity, material usage and staffing needs; report delays or concerns promptly
  • Confirm crews maintain clean, organized work areas and protect the building, occupants and surrounding property
  • Verify completed work through site inspections, photographs and crew field reports
  • Communicate issues and delays to all stakeholders and help resolve site concerns with clients, consultants and general contractors

Required Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of experience in commercial flat roofing, including experience leading crews
  • Strong working knowledge of commercial roofing systems, materials and installation methods
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, roof plans and specifications
  • Advanced planning skills for maximizing productivity of workforce, materials and equipment
  • Knowledge of safety compliance regulations and a commitment to a safe work environment
  • The ability to lead and motivate crews and individuals
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence and an acceptable driving record
  • Strong communication, organization, time-management and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and digital reporting systems
  • Ability to access roofs, use ladders safely and perform site inspections using appropriate safety equipment
  • Willingness to travel between job sites throughout the GTA

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a roofing foreman, superintendent or site supervisor
  • Familiarity with modified bitumen, BUR and single-ply roofing systems
  • Current Working at Heights training and relevant supervisor health and safety training
  • Experience coordinating subcontractors and tracking job costs

Who You Are

  • Self-driven and committed to continuous improvement
  • Takes ownership and accountability for quality, safety and schedule
  • Punctual, reliable and organized, with strong attention to detail
  • Able to balance competing priorities, complex situations and tight deadlines
  • Communicates clearly with crews, clients and internal teams
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment where you can make a meaningful impact

What We Offer

  • Performance-based bonus opportunities
  • Comprehensive health and dental benefits
  • A stable, well-established company with an excellent industry reputation
  • Supportive leadership and the autonomy to run your sites
  • Long-term career growth within a growing construction organization

Working Conditions

This role is primarily field-based, with site visits throughout the GTA and office time for planning and documentation. Early starts may be required to support crew schedules and project requirements.

Specified Roofing Inc. is an equal opportunity employer; accommodations are available on request throughout the recruitment process.
