Original job description

Company Description Specsavers was founded 40 years ago by optometrists Doug and Mary Perkins, with a mission to make best-value eyecare accessible to everyone. Their focus on quality, affordability, and clinical excellence has grown Specsavers into the largest privately owned optical group in the world. The company provides optical and hearing care services across 12 countries, offering development opportunities to around 41,000 colleagues globally. Team members benefit from working in a purpose-driven organization that invests in training, career progression, and modern clinical technology. Specsavers continues to expand, creating new roles for individuals passionate about customer care and eye health.

Role Description The Eyecare Consultant is a full-time (32-40 hours) at 2132 McPhillips St., Winnipeg, on-site role based in Winnipeg, MB, supporting customers in selecting eyewear and accessing eyecare services that meet their needs. Daily responsibilities include greeting customers, conducting initial needs assessments, explaining lens and frame options, and assisting with frame selection, fit, and adjustments. The role also involves booking and managing appointments, guiding customers through eye examination processes, and coordinating with optometrists and other clinical team members. The Eyecare Consultant handles basic administrative tasks such as processing orders, managing payments, maintaining accurate customer records, and ensuring product displays are well-presented. This position requires consistent delivery of friendly, professional customer service and adherence to Specsavers’ standards for accessibility, inclusivity, and clinical care.

Qualifications

Customer service and communication skills, including the ability to listen carefully, explain options clearly, and support a diverse customer base with empathy and respect.
Sales and retail skills, such as product knowledge for lenses and frames, confidence in making recommendations, and experience with point-of-sale or retail systems.
Organizational and administrative skills, including appointment scheduling, record keeping, accuracy in order processing, and attention to detail.
Teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside optometrists, optical assistants, and store leaders in a fast-paced environment.
Technical aptitude and comfort learning optical tools and systems, such as measurement devices, fitting equipment, and store software.
Ability to stand for extended periods, perform light manual tasks (such as adjusting frames), and maintain professional appearance and demeanor.
Previous experience in optical retail, healthcare support, or customer-facing roles is an asset but not strictly required; training will be provided.
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in eyecare, retail, or healthcare is considered an advantage.
Send resumes to store.gardencitywest.ca@specsavers.com
