Title: Snowflake Data Governance Lead
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)- 2 days onsite
Duration: 6-Month Contract (Potential Extension/FTE)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Snowflake Data Governance Lead, to support a strategic Asset & Wealth Management data initiative. The successful candidate will lead the implementation of data governance practices across Snowflake, ensuring data quality, lineage, classification, security, and compliance while partnering with business, data, and technology teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain Snowflake data governance standards and processes.
- Define and manage data classification, metadata, lineage, and data quality controls.
- Assess and document current-state data architecture, data flows, and governed data assets.
- Partner with business data owners, stewards, architects, and engineering teams to implement governance frameworks.
- Govern Snowflake security controls including RBAC, data masking, row-level security, and data sharing.
- Support integration with governance tools such as Alation, Manta, or similar platforms.
- Develop governance metrics, reporting, and operational controls.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise security, privacy, and data governance standards.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or Data Engineering.
- 3+ years of hands-on Snowflake experience.
- Strong knowledge of data governance, metadata management, data lineage, and data quality.
- Experience with SQL, data modeling, and data architecture documentation.
- Experience managing sensitive data, including PII and confidential information.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Alation, Manta, Collibra, or similar governance tools.
- Wealth Management, Asset Management, or Financial Services experience.
- Experience implementing Snowflake security and governance controls.
- Exposure to enterprise data platforms, analytics, AI, or data product initiatives.
Nice to Have
- Experience participating in Data Governance Councils or Snowflake COE initiatives.
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements for financial data.
