Original job description
We’re looking for a Senior Experience Design Lead to define the future experience of our clients AI-powered platform. This is not a role for someone who simply improves today’s interfaces. We’re looking for someone who can see what is coming next, understand how AI is changing the way people interact with products, and translate that into a clear, ambitious experience direction. You’ll work in close partnership with our Senior AI Product Manager, Engineering, and Senior Stakeholders to shape how users experience AI across their platform.
The role is deliberately senior. We are looking for someone who can set the design direction, challenge assumptions, establish principles, and make confident calls about what the experience should become.
This is a Hybrid position where 3 days per week will be spent working from our clients Toronto based office. On offer is a brilliant package with an annual salary up to $250,000 (Canadian Dollars), Annual Bonus Scheme, Company Pension, Private Health Care and Holiday Package where you can buy or sell additional days!
About you
- You’ll define the future-state experience for our clients AI platform, not just the next iteration.
- You’ll set and communicate a clear design vision across conversational AI, product UX, interaction design, and service experience.
- Work closely with the Senior AI Product Manager to shape the product and experience together from the earliest stages.
- Explore how new AI capabilities should change the product experience rather than simply being inserted into existing interfaces.
- Design for conversations, context, memory, continuity, personalization, trust, and behavior change.
- Establish experience principles and patterns that create consistency across AI-powered features.
- Challenge existing UX when new technology creates a better way for users to achieve the same outcome.
- Prototype and test future-state concepts quickly, using design tools, AI-assisted development tools, code, or low-code environments where useful.
- Work closely with Engineering to understand what is technically possible and how emerging capabilities can create entirely new interaction models.
You’ll need
- Significant experience leading product or experience design for digital products.
- A track record of setting design direction, not simply executing requirements.
- Experience designing AI-native, conversational, or adaptive product experiences.
- Strong knowledge of conversational UX and the design challenges created by probabilistic systems.
- A deep understanding of human behavior, interaction design, and how people build trust with digital products.
- Experience designing for sensitive, personal, or confidential interactions.
- Strong systems thinking, with the ability to connect individual product interactions into a coherent end-to-end experience.
- Experience using prototypes to explore product direction before requirements are fully defined.
- A startup or scale-up background, or equivalent experience working in environments where speed, ambiguity, and ownership are expected.
We are not looking for someone whose portfolio simply demonstrates polished versions of familiar product patterns. We want someone who can imagine how AI changes the relationship between a user and a product, and then turn that idea into something people can actually use.
