This role ensures that incoming merchandise is received, counted, and stored accurately and logically so that the eCommerce fulfillment team can quickly locate and pick items to fill orders. The ideal candidate combines strong organizational and leadership skills with hands-on experience in inventory management within a retail or apparel environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all bulk receiving processes, including unloading, inspecting, counting, and verifying incoming shipments from vendors against purchase orders.
- Manage put-away and warehouse storage organization, ensuring SKUs, styles, and sizes are stocked in clearly labeled, logical locations that make items easy to find and pick.
- Supervise, schedule, and train warehouse staff involved in receiving, put-away, and stock organization, maintaining productivity and accuracy standards.
- Maintain and manage inventory management/WMS software, ensuring stock levels, bin locations, and SKU data are accurate and up to date in real time.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and full physical inventories; investigate and resolve discrepancies between system records and physical stock.
- Monitor incoming stock levels to prevent overstock or stockouts, and communicate replenishment needs to purchasing/merchandising teams.
- Partner closely with the eCommerce fulfillment team to ensure warehouse organization, labeling, and location accuracy support fast and error-free order picking.
- Enforce warehouse safety protocols, organization standards, and compliance with company policies.
- Analyze inventory data and generate reports on receiving accuracy, stock levels, turnover, aging inventory, and shrinkage for management review.
- Manage vendor returns and damaged/defective goods, including inspection and proper disposition.
- Optimize warehouse layout and storage processes to improve receiving efficiency and picking accuracy for the fulfillment team.
- Lead loss prevention efforts and implement procedures to minimize shrinkage and damage.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in warehouse inventory or receiving management, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience in retail, apparel, or fashion distribution preferred.
- Proficiency with inventory management systems/WMS software (e.g., NetSuite, Fishbowl, SPS Commerce, or similar); strong Excel skills a plus.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities, with experience training and motivating staff.
- Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail, particularly around storage logic and labeling.
- Ability to analyze data and identify trends or discrepancies in inventory records.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including cross-team coordination with fulfillment staff.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods in a warehouse environment.
