This role requires a strong understanding of the VFX pipeline, exceptional organizational and leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining oversight of project schedules, budgets, resources and delivery expectations.
Duties
- Oversee the development and execution of assigned projects, ensuring production plans, schedules, milestones and delivery expectations are clearly established and communicated.
- Work closely with the VFX Supervisor and Creative leadership to coordinate project kick-offs, departmental briefings and artist turnovers, ensuring teams have the information and direction required to begin production.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, maintaining clear and consistent communication, addressing production requirements and ensuring expectations are managed throughout the project.
- Lead and support the production team in the daily management of projects, ensuring priorities are established, progress is monitored and shot and asset deliveries remain on track.
- Manage project budgets and production costs, monitor actuals against approved bids, identify potential financial and scheduling risks, and coordinate rebids and change orders as project requirements evolve.
- Partner with the Resource Management team to establish and maintain resource projections, align staffing requirements with production schedules and proactively address changing project needs.
- Maintain oversight of project tracking, production reporting, bid history and Flow Production Tracking data, ensuring accurate information is available to support production and studio decision-making.
- Coordinate with CG, 2D, Editorial, Systems, Pipeline and other studio departments to communicate project requirements, manage dependencies and resolve production challenges.
- Oversee project billing milestones and coordinate with production leadership and billing teams to ensure client invoicing follows contractual schedules.
- Contribute to the development of the production team through mentorship, performance feedback and participation in recruitment and other studio initiatives.
- Lead project reviews and post-mortems, identify opportunities to improve production workflows and ensure project wrap, delivery and archival requirements are completed.
Requirements
- 8–10+ years of experience in VFX production, with a comprehensive understanding of the visual effects pipeline from development through final delivery.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex VFX projects, production schedules, budgets and resources.
- Strong understanding of VFX production workflows, bidding, cost tracking and financial reporting.
- Proven ability to lead production teams and collaborate effectively with VFX Supervisors, artists, department leads and studio management.
- Excellent client-facing communication, relationship management and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Flow Production Tracking (formerly Shotgun / ShotGrid) or comparable VFX production management software.
