Original job description

Are you passionate about the latest trends in apparel and creating exceptional shopping experiences?

Join us as a Softgoods Department Sales Manager, where you’ll lead our team in delivering exceptional service and helping customers find the perfect clothing and accessories for their lifestyle.

Since 1979, we have been Canada’s go-to destination for performance-driven gear and stylish outdoor fashion. From skiing to cycling, we’re here to outfit our customers for their next adventure with apparel, footwear, equipment, and accessories for everyone.

What You'll Do;

As a leader on our shop floor, you’ll combine your passion for fashion with operational expertise to create a standout retail experience. You’ll set the tone as a role model for outstanding customer service, fostering a fun, inclusive, and high-performing team environment.

While partnering with your Assistant Manager to achieve sales targets, manage team KPIs, and maximize profitability, you’ll coach your team to be product and trend experts, ensuring they’re equipped to guide customers to their perfect fit. You’ll manage scheduling, inventory, and merchandising to keep your department running smoothly and looking sharp.

Deliver outstanding customer service, resolving issues promptly and ensuring customer satisfaction at every interaction.
Execute visual merchandising standards, including analyzing product needs and implementing weekly plans to optimize sales.
Act as Manager on Duty, leading by example in daily operations, motivating the team, and ensuring adherence to store policies and procedures.
Prioritize health and safety by identifying workplace hazards, providing training, and adhering to Occupational Health and Safety standards.
Support recruitment, staff development, and performance appraisals to build a strong, high-performing team.

What You'll Bring;

Passionate about apparel trends and inspiring others through your enthusiasm for fashion and style.
With 2-4 years of retail leadership experience, you’ve successfully led teams to hit goals and elevate customer experiences.
You’re results-driven, entrepreneurial, and motivated by challenges.
Strong communicator who knows how to motivate, engage, and get things done.
You’re an organized multitasker who thrives on juggling priorities.

In accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, please advise the Sporting Life Group Human Resources team of any accommodations required to ensure fair and equitable access through the recruitment and selection process.

Who We Are;

Sporting Life is a leading, iconic Canadian sports lifestyle retailer. Since 1979, we've been committed to providing our customers and their families with the best possible experience - and we are continuously working to improve it every day. We offer the best in outdoor apparel and fashion, footwear, equipment and accessories for men, women and kids. The mix of sport and fashion is what makes us unique.

YOU live for the great Canadian outdoors and take pride in living the Sporting Life. You relish in the exhilarating experience of skiing, snowboarding, cycling, running, tennis, hiking and camping and want to inspire our customers to do the same. You believe in the spirit of team, adapting to the ever changing retail environment, being part of constant innovation and working alongside the best leaders, associates and vendors in the business. We are looking for those who live what we sell every day and who celebrate the love of sport and an active way of living.

Sporting life is a member of the Sporting Life Group, a Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited company, and is a leading Canadian sports lifestyle retail organization comprising iconic banners, Golf Town, Sporting Life and Team Town. Operating from coast to coast, both Golf Town, Sporting Life and Team Town’s fleet of stores inspire Canadians to get outside and live an active lifestyle, whether it’s playing some of Canada’s top golf courses, running through community trails, experiencing the exhilarating feeling of the hills, or any sports activity in between fit for the individual or whole family.

Come work with us! Experience what it’s like to work in a fun and engaging environment where you’ll be challenged and inspired to contribute to both brands and surrounded by like-minded teams who have a passion for the game of golf, are devoted to outdoor and team activities and sports.
